Besides getting some console scratches touched up, I've swapped the ashtray out for the black 'non-smokers' tray, and I've added a Porsche horn pad crest.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Would love some advice: My '00 C2 is pretty plain jane, which I mostly like. However, the grey interior is pretty dull, and I've been trying to add some visual interest without making it look 'modded'. Besides getting some console scratches touched up, I've swapped the ashtray out for the black 'non-smokers' tray, and I've added a Porsche horn pad crest. So far, so good. The last change I'm thinking about is trim rings around the instruments. Two questions: - Do we like the look of silver rings around the gages, assuming that I leave the gage faces black? Does anyone have a pic? Bonus points if it's the light grey interior I have. - Who sells the nicest ones in an aluminum finish that would match the alumalook accents in the interior now (ie trunk levers, shift ****, e-brake button). I'm sure this is the trivial question of the day, but thanks in advance for any counsel you can offer. Bruce.

POST 2Original post

Eric the plug guy probably has some nice ones. bumperplug.com is the web site. He is a site sponsor, and has great stuff. I love the trim rings and think they add a nice understated touch to the instruments.

POST 3Original post

BruceP- While my camera is out of batteries right now so I can't show you a pic, and I have a black interior, I just recently added the trim rings and I really like it. It adds just a bit more contrast and it really looks good. I got them from Eric over at bumperplugs and his match perfectly and he is a great vendor to work with so I would highly recomend you check there. The other thing I did to add something to a stock car is I added some Lloyd's Mats. They are direct replacements for your factory mats, but you are able to add some color or your model or anything to them. Here's a picture of mine. Again, I think they added a nice element.

POST 4Original post

Bruce, I dont think its a trivial question at all. We all have our own personal taste and me for one like the silver bezel's. and ditto with bumperplug.com

POST 5Original post

I like them a lot; really dresses up the interior. I'll probably add the aluminum dash trim this spirng to tie it all together. BTW, my gauge faces and the rear console were factory ordered in silver.

POST 6Original post

I have black interior and I orderd them- should be here today! I looked at a gray car with gray leather that had them and I thought that it looked every bit as nice as in dark interiors- IMO

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your comments. Sounds like a go for the trim rings, and BumperPlugs are the source. You guys have been great. Hope I can return the favour one of these days. Bruce.

POST 8Original post

Bruce - I have Graphite Gray interior, with Metropol Blue deviating carpet. Here are a cou[le of pics of my Gauge Rings. Another thing you could do to give the interior a little pizzaz is Aluminum Pedals. I have also included a pic of them.

POST 9Original post

They're OEM pedals? I've not seen those before. As for the gauge rings - I have them - bought them from Eric - love them.

POST 10Original post

I have the trim rings from Eric at Bumperplugs and the Carnewal pedals. It really dresses up the interior. I love it. Adam

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the endorsement. I ordered them yesterday! Question for the folks who bought Eric's trim rings: How did you attach them? Thanks again. Love this forum. Way more helpful and less bitchy than the BMW forums I used to follow. ; )

POST 12Original post

3M Emblem tape - the thin stuff, not the padded stuff. The tape is about 4mm wide and a couple of mm thick - works like a charm. Took a while to find the tape, you might need to find a 'real' auto store, other than Pepboys or Autozone, as my local stores didn't carry it and I ended up at a local auto paint store.

POST 13Original post

No, not OEM. I got them on ebay for $135+/-. You can also attach them with clear silicone. DO NOT use any type of glue. When you get rings, before you apply them, make sure that they are not warped. Lay each of the rings on a table and check that both ends of each ring touch the table. I had one ring (the outside left one) that would not stay attached to the gauge. I removed it and found that it was warped. To fix it, I gently and carefully FLEXED (as opposed to bent) the side that was too high. I started in the center of the ring and flexed it a little, them moved about 1/4" toward the end and flexed it again. I continued doing that until I got to the end of the ring, and repeated the process until the ring would lay flat on the table.

POST 14Original post

..another thing is that the outer rings will actually snap into place without tape if you push them. Best to have the tape in place before you mount them though, as they will not come out once mounted.

POST 15Original post

Which is a good reason to use silicone, just in case you ever want to remove them. It also allows for easy clean-up.

POST 16Original post

So, why do the pedals have Porsche stickers on them then?

POST 17Original post

I don't know. They could be illegal knock-offs? BTW - The PORSCHE logo is painted on the pedals.

POST 18Original post

They are knock offs, but really good ones. I got mine on ebay back in the spring for $79. Do a search and you'll find lots of posts about them.

POST 19Original post

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for them on eBay. If you see more, please drop me a note.

POST 20Original post

There are a few out on e-bay now. Go to the Car & Truck parts section, then click on Interior. Do a search on Porsche as the "make" and Pedals as the "keyword"

POST 21Original post

Thanks, I'll have to start monitoring auctions.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup, those are my colours. Minus the full leather and the swanky wheel, but same gage faces and overall colour. Looks great. Thanks so much for posting!

POST 24Original post

I have them on my C4S - included with the Technic package. Not sure I would have ordered them, but with the stock gauge faces and the alu-look center console, it works.
