Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would recommend upgrading to the newest 911 you can afford...
Leading evidence: 'Recommend upgrading' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend upgrading' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I ordered one last month (still not sure what the final price will be but most like around the same as a similarly equipped 997).
I will be selling my 1999 Cab with Tiptronics (44k), looking for newer Cab or possibly BMW-M3 with MANUAL transmission... possibly Audi A6.. Any advice in how much to ask..? Recommendations on new car..? Thanks in advance..
I would take an M3 over the Audi every single time. I think the M3 is a fantastic car. Certainly different than the 911 though straight line speed is pretty much identical. I'd get another 911 myself especially with prices on the 997 - 2005 models coming down to really good level. THough if you want something that is a bit more versatile that is still a ton of fun to drive the M3 is hard to beat. Just realize there is a new M3 model on the way that will have a 400+ hp V8. THose will be in high demand staring this spring. IF you want an E46 version I would think you could find a really good deal on one of those at this point.
Having been an Audi and BMW owner, neither live up to the excitement of a P-Car. You will be disappointed. The A6 has no power and handles poorly...The M3 is OK, but still no comparison to a 911. I would recommend upgrading to the newest 911 you can afford...
For PP, I would say somewhere in the $26-28k range on the west coast. I just bought my 1999 cab mabual so I've really researched the heck out the cab tip/manual market. Owners seem to be pretty flexible when a cash buyer shows up. Maybe the way to get top dollar is to consign at a Porsche dealer? They seem to have the highest asking/selling prices.
Thanks you your comments... just drove 2006 A6 for about a week, the interior appears quite refined, but agree it does not handle has good as a P-Car.. I am still debating between M3-E46 (I believe 04 and newer), P-Car 996 (02-03), or perhaps 997... guess will decide when I sell my 99 P-Car... Had M3-E36 a few years ago which was ok, but not as exciting as P-Car.. will probably trade in my car... price range appears reasonable..
Instead of the 997, look at the new Audi R8. I ordered one last month (still not sure what the final price will be but most like around the same as a similarly equipped 997). Delivery is summer '07.
I saw the R8 on the Audi web site, looks pretty, and aggressive... problem is, don't know about performance, reliability, and handling... but it looks pretty..
If you are even considering a 997...your question has been answered...without doubt!
Good luck. Ultimately it is a personal decision. Just let us know what you got (with pics).
I would get a 02+ 996 with 6speed. If not, I would get an Audi S4 or RS4 over an S6. I've also owned an 03 M3. I would pick the M3 over an A6, but would pick an S4 or RS4 over the M3.
