Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am experiencing a tiny bit of buyers remorse in getting this set over the PSS9's because I know I could adjust the height on that system, although I purchased this because I figured Porsche had sorted this better for the 996 that Bilstein did.
Leading evidence: 'Install today' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I would have to go back down and measure again for check after settling.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For those that have installed the X74, I have a few questions.
- What is your new ride height on 18" wheels front and rear (as measured from the ground to the top of the fender opening)?
- Do you have a ride height variation from one side to the other and if so what is the difference?
- How much did the suspension "settle" (if any) after you installed it and how long did it take to settle?
I just had the system put on my car and I would like to know what others have experienced.
Thanks in advance for checking!!
I had the RoWM030 installed if that helps. I am sure X74 is a bit more agressive but just an option if you are interested.
Rear dropped about 17mm
Front about 24mm
These are measurements AFTER a few months of driving and a couple track days to let it settle.
Hi Ray,
If you do a search I think you will find some previously posted info. I seem to have lost my measurements just after installation (about 2 years ago). As I recall the car dropped about 3/4 - 1" all around. Here are the current measurements:
RF: 25 1/2"
LF: 25 3/8"
RR = LR: 25 1/4"
The x74 is fantastic, but very sensitive to alignment - and it needs an alignment several (2-3) times a year (in my experience).
Forgot to add the height in addition the drop.
Rear 26.75"
Rear 26.25"
But those are the immediate measurements. I would have to go back down and measure again for check after settling.
I have the X73. Brand new, the car sat about 1/4 inch higher than Ray's. It is already lower only a few weeks older. I'll measure it again in the am.
I am curious as to why you want to know. You already have it installed, right? What difference would it make now? Something wrong? Not to your expectations?
Thanks for the info guys!!! Keep it coming.
To answer your questions, I just got my X74 installed today. The improved handling is great and seems to be everything I hoped for. However, the "drop" isn't nearly as aggressive as I had hoped and there is quite a variation between the drop on my right and left fronts (a smaller variation exist in the rear).
I am disappointed with the variation and there seems to be nothing that I can do because this in not an adjustable system. I guess I'm wondering if this is "normal" and how much additional "settling" I can expect over time.
I am experiencing a tiny bit of buyers remorse in getting this set over the PSS9's because I know I could adjust the height on that system, although I purchased this because I figured Porsche had sorted this better for the 996 that Bilstein did. I really do appreciate all of your comments. I am very interested in how much height variation is common with this set-up (between sides) and how much settling I can expect to occur.
Thank you for your help.
Ray S -
When I had my X74 installed at a dealer last year I noticed the difference between the right and left front height and I asked the mechanic who did the installation about the difference. He didn't have any explanations and since this was his first install of an X74 he couldn't say if this was normal or not. A year later the height difference still exists (25 1/4" left, 25 7/8" right). The rears also have a slight difference (25 1/2" left, 25 1/4" right).
I like the look the X74 gives my car. I used to have the ROW M030 and I find the X74 to be slightly better in handling and much better in overall ride quality.
Proof positive on the continuing drop, after only 2 weeks. The rears went from 25.5 to 25.25, fairly equal. The fronts went from 25.625 to 2.375L and 2.5R. Measured from the ground through the center of the wheel to the edge of the wheel well, in the exact same spot in the garage.
I would not want any further drop. As it is, I am already paranoid about the engine bottom htting something. Park your car beside a standard 996, and you'll see what a visual difference a 30 mm drop really makes. For looks, if you want to fill out those wells more, you can go 19" wheels. I would not recommend it for performance, though, since the 996's were engineered for 17" and 18" wheels. For the 997, suspension geometry was re-engineerd to allow for the 19" wheel option.
I added the engine protection plate. Order mine from Sunset for something like $80 a year ago. Best insurance I bought since adding the RoWM030. Looking at it now it is covered in scratches and dings, etc.
