Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

New battery put in yesterday and the passenger window issue is gone for now and the central lock light is off and the button is functioning correctly now.
Leading evidence: 'gone' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'gone' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check manufacture year of the battery first' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Welcome, i'd check the manufacture year of the battery first.

I'd recommend a CTEK charger its the same brand that the OEM Porsche branded charger is.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Problem came back at lunch time when I went for a drive.
Hello everyone,
My name is Roger. I have been checking out all the Porsche forums and research 996 and 997 for the last 6 month while searching for 1 for the last 3.
Finally bought a 2002 C2 on Friday! Everything is good but battery may be on its last breath, there is passenger window issue which may be related to the battery. Tires are 4/32 needs to be replaced soon.
Other than that, its in great shape and fantastic to drive!
2002 C2 Cab, 6 MT, 91000 Miles on the body and 5500 on the engine. Came with hard top. No nav but has 6 disc CD changer.
1 owner before me and has all service record. Engine replaced at 85500 by Porsche and has unlimited miles warranty until July 2018 by the Porsche dealership.
Did the PPI which identified the battery health and tires low. Rest of the car passed with flying color. I visited the bay and looked at the new engine, new AOS, new water pump with the new coolant tank. RMS and Clutch is done at the same time engine was replaced. It is still M96 but has the large (non-serviceable IMS).
Child booster seat installed in the back, ordered a bluetooth FM transmitter for phone pairing for now until I figure out which head unit I want. Also ordered Gummi Pfledge for rubber and 303 convertible cleaner and protectant. Bought Pelican's 101 book and Ctek battery tender with Cig plug attachment.
Next is tires and maybe a new battery instead of trying to Ctek revive it. Also need to find plug for the front license plate removal. Any suggestions? Should I change the oil on the new engine since it is past 5k miles. Do Porsche uses break in oil or like that?
Too much fun driving around over the weekend and only have this 1 pic. Next week will take family out and do some photo ops.
Thank you on the site on bumper plug!
The window does not drop when using exterior door handle.
Interior door handle pull the window drop a little bit but it keeps want to get back up so it kind of rocks up and down unless I let go the handle and then it goes back up.
All indicate to micro switch to exterior handle bad and Lock microswitch is bad.
My central lock light is on and won't go away.
However, after charging the battery on tender over night. the central light went away and both window handle works. After I drove around eventually the central lock light came back and same problem on the window again. I charged it over night last night and morning commute all correct. Problem came back at lunch time when I went for a drive. So I want to maybe get a new battery before I order the microswitch and lock mechanism (which is $300+?)
These cars get flaky when the battery is suspect. If you think the battery is iffy, replace it before trying to diagnose other problems.
Yes, change the oil on a 6 month/5,000 mile schedule. Read up on the LN Engineering spin-on filter adapter; many people here swear by it (myself included).
Welcome, i'd check the manufacture year of the battery first.
If it wasnt a DD for the previous owner it might just need a good charge.
I'd recommend a CTEK charger its the same brand that the OEM Porsche branded charger is. If this isn't your DD its good to have on hand anyway.
Welcome and congratulations! Hope our projects book comes in handy and if you ever need anything or have any questions please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.
Man that's so clean! I am going to try to keep my car as clean as your guys!
Thanks Pelican parts! I look forward to the book as I love DIYs.
So what's this spin on filter thing was mentioned? I think I saw it on websites when I was researching IMS issue but can't remember where anymore.
The LN spin on filter replaces the plastic filter housing allowing you to use more reliable spin on filters. By using a spin on filter you eliminate the removable bypass element (spring) inside the plastic hosting as there is a bypass built into the spin on filter. The reason for doing this is the bypass in the housing becomes weak and unfiltered oil can bypass the filter and move back into the engine, not good! Worthwhile upgrade
Otherwise if you go with the IMS solution a spin on filter is included as that's where the oil fed plain bearing gets its lubrication
New battery put in yesterday and the passenger window issue is gone for now and the central lock light is off and the button is functioning correctly now.
I did order a window micro switch anyway but will keep my eye on this!
Now just waiting on new tires! Hope for good weather this weekend!
I am ready to order...
contemplating getting the Sumitomo HTR ZIII 600 bucks and go do some autocross and 1 or 2 novice track days to get familiar with the vehicle.
(I havent done neither for a couple of years now and I don't think I would even reach the limit on those tires at this point)
After that probably the Michelin PS2.
Anyone tried the Bridgestone S-04? Any feedback on those? I used to have S02 on the S2000 but I remember it grip well new but has a sharp drop off. wearing down to 50% means not much grip left in the wet.
Any feedback on CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DW? Tirerack has close out special on them at the moment, set as cheap as the Sumitomo.
