But when I check the VIN on different VIN checkers I get in return that the car is a Carrera 2 2001 model, The car is however is supposed to be a Turbo, first registered in 2000.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am in the process of buying a 996TT, and the dealer has sent me a copy of the service history.
But when I check the VIN on different VIN checkers I get in return that the car is a Carrera 2 2001 model, The car is however is supposed to be a Turbo, first registered in 2000.
Car is far away, so I have only seen photos and it look very much like a 996TT....
Can anyone give me some pointers on this VIN and engine code? Is it a genuine 996TT or a C2?
Tried looking in some of the systems that we have at work (non Porsche mechanic shop). I am in the USA so this VIN will not decode for us. This is a ROW VIN. If it was a USA car the VIN would have a digit for the specific engine. However the ROW cars VIN is different. Can you share the pictures? Perhaps we can help dissect the car by those? A Turbo vs a C2 should be easy for all of us together to dissect.
I wouldn't always trust VIN decoders. That's definitely a 996 Turbo manufactured for European markets (i.e. "ZZZ") . One of the way to confirm is on the hood sticker, you'll see the number "M9670-641" which is the engine code M96.70 or the Mezger Turbo Engine.
Dealer accepter my offer. Car is now being prepared for export to Norway. Probably a couple of weeks until I receive the car. No fancy stuff just a normal seal gray 996TT. Thanks for helping out
I might have sounded a bit indifferent, but I am of course super exited. I used to have a highly tuned 951, and now I have a 931 Rally car, so this will be my third turbo
I will post pictures when it arrives.
