I have swapped from a C4S decklid to a Turbo decklid so i went out to look at my C4S decklid.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I searched with no luck. My spoiler (manual mode) goes up just fine with one push of the button. But, to retract it I have to hold the button down while it closes and sometimes it won't fully seat itself. I did notice it sounds rough while on the way down. Is this a hydraulic or gear type drive needing some lube?

POST 2Original post

Spray some silicone lubricant on the two rams that lift the spoiler. There are some small holes that you can spray into to lube the lift rams.

Its gear driven. You have to hold the switch down for it to retract the whole way. Spray some silicon and try that. When I bought mine it didnt work at all, so I took it apart and bought new gears for it, which had stripped. Then regreased the gears, and it works perfectly!

POST 4Original post

I used paste wax on those plastic arms, Trewax furniture wax. no more noise going up or down, and it doesnt collect dust or dirt. its an old woodworkers trick to making parts slide easily without oil to attract and grab dirt. Now if I can just fix my charging issue then the spoiler will work correctly!!

POST 5Original post

Anyone know which pins I can connect to a battery to manually retract the spoiler? I have a decklid thats been removed with the spoiler up aside from plugging it in? I have the wiring diagrams but thought i'd ask before I try and figure it out.

according to the wiring on my 04 C4S its pins 1 and 2. should be a yellow/green and blue/green wire

Water gets down in those lift systems for the Carrera spoilers. Pretty easy to replace, but I guess you could try to lubricate them first. They are cheap replacements on eBay. Some people will sell you the whole kit and kaboodle (i.e. decklid/spoiler) if you're patient.

Thanks, which is positive and which is negative? Also mine is RoW not US version

POST 9Original post

It's reverse polarity. So hook them up one way and it goes up, swap wires around and it goes down.

I would confirm your wiring color and positions. As i said earlier mine shows pins 1 and 2 in the diagram. I have swapped from a C4S decklid to a Turbo decklid so i went out to look at my C4S decklid. Although the colors are as previously described the Pin locations are wrong. Mine are Pins 1 and 3. Either way just reverse polarity on the motor to raise and lower it once you confirm the correct pins.
