Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Dealer replaced the motor assembly under CPO warranty and it has been fine since then.
Leading evidence: 'Replace motor assembly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'so common, porsche would have a fix' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace motor' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Mine needed a clean-up as I tested the switch before/after.

Suspected cause
One would think that since this problem is so common, Porsche would have a fix.

Suggestion
Or did you have to replace the motor for another reason..
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

my car has been running wonderfully well - no complaints other than a
recent
annoying issue with my sunroof switch.
when i try to open the roof by pressing the rear most portion of the switch it does nothing. in the past, it always slides back automatically stopping when fully open.
now, if i press the forward part of the switch and pop open the sunroof, then close it the roof will slide back using the rear portion of the switch.
any ideas??
My sunroof switch has same problem. I have to "wake it up" by hitting the tilt button, then close it then it will retract. I've grown used to this sequence after a year. My indy tells me the motor assembly is the culprit not the switch. However, I don't care enough to dig into it.
Same issue here, too. As above, I just live with it.
Things like this do bug me, though. Never had a similar problem in any other car I've owned. One would think that since this problem is so common, Porsche would have a fix.
Is there a permanent fix for this? Some other threads have suggested that these symptoms are a sign of the motor going bad, but I'd like to know for sure before I spend $400 on a new motor..!
I'm a bit handy (was able to fix my window regulator), but I was a little afraid of doing the sunroof motor. I bit the bullet about a year ago. Cost wasn't terrible at an indy shop. I was a bit afraid of all the "plastic pieces that could easily break".
I currently have this problem. I use my sunroof occasionally but am now afraid I'll open it and it won't shut. is it definitely the motor? I was considering replacing the switch and seeing if that fixed it
For those that use the sunroof, they can't do without it. For those like me that don't use it, its a source of constant annoyance. It adds weight at the worst location, source of rattles and leaks and the finicky switch. If I have a choice I'll opt not to have it, but I got my 997.2 used and had better luck getting everything I need, except one without the sunroof.:>(
I solved the switch problem doing this procedure.
Work correctly after a few months of use.
Mine needed a clean-up as I tested the switch before/after.
