Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is probably a dumb question but... .. At my first track day the organiser said dont use the emergency brake after a session as it will overheat and warp the rotors. .... then after my first session my real instructor (who drove a 996 turbo) said " Of course the brake stuff doesnt apply to Porsche's." Do we really have a drum brake for the emergency brake ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I *think* it's true that we have a separate handbrake, but it's still a good habit to avoid using it after a track session.

POST 3Original post

I second Simon. According to "The Porsche 911 Story" by Paul Frere, the hand brake actuates a separate braking mechanism on the rear wheel. I haven't heard him to be wrong on anything yet.

POST 4Original post

Not sure if it's the same for a Turbo, regular C2 e-brake engages drums, brake pedal brake calipers

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
