This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

You have to remove the console - or part remove it - to access the switch...handy as I was changing the centre console for a colour coded one at the same time.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can it be programmed to have the horn "beep" when locking or unlocking the doors with the keyfob? It's hard to tell if it locks when I walk away. I have to keep an eye on the lights to tell. And I know if you hit the lock button twice, it turns off the cabin protection. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Just leave the glove box open or modify it to make the car "think" it is open

POST 3Original post

I am also interrested in this... Most cars would have the remote key with both Lock and Unlock buttons but as you said Porsche only has 1 button for both Lock/Unlock. This will make all of us extra vigilant when we have to step away from our car.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can't leave the glovebox open with the top down....that's where I lock up my radar detector.

POST 6Original post

try hitting the lock button before closing the door. It also works with the trunk open Steve

POST 8Original post

This is one of the evergreen topics here, and on RennTech. Be aware that by intentionally having any door open when you set the alarm, you deprive yourself of Porsche's built in warning to let you know that your trunk, hood, etc is not closed. Porsche's plan to give a silent signal is one I, personally, really like. But, different strokes for different folks. I do think performing the side flasher mod makes it easier to see the double light flash when walking away from the car.

POST 9Original post

I like my car to bleep or honk to let me know it's locked. The glovebox leaves a light on if you leave it open, on my car anyway. The centre console storage thingy doesn't... The advice from my Porsche Tech mate was to modify the microswitch for the centre console storage thingy so the car sees it as being open, when it's not. To do this you have to either bend the thin metal actuating arm out of the way, or cut it off completely - what I did. If you unplug it, the car is smart enough to think it's a broken sensor and ignore it...giving no bleep/honk. By leaving the switch plugged into the loom, the car thinks the switch is there and working OK, but the lid of the storage bin is open. Even when it isn't. This works on my car...and gives a honk from the horn about 4 seconds after remotely locking with the key. You have to remove the console - or part remove it - to access the switch...handy as I was changing the centre console for a colour coded one at the same time. According to the Porsche Tech, this method has no adverse effects on the alarm operation, other than not letting you know if something else is not closed properly.
