Even check places like LA dismantlers--they may have some too based on all the wrecked cars they get in there!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think mine has a problem then as i tried what you are saying last night and it didn't work.
It is not doing anything on my car so i think i may have a problem with the lights or something.
Also thanks for asking if i am serious kilrgt as i would really take the time to post online about this just as a joke! why give rude responses to legit questions? I just bought my Porsche yesterday and it has no owners manual so thanks. Also TomDeg thanks for your help.
It is the **** to the left top of the tachometer with the 'bulb' logo on it. Hold it to the right to intensify illumination, and to the left to dim the lights [this is only for the gauge lights]. Also, make sure you are in a dark place with at least your parking lights on, otherwise you won't be able to tell if the lights are dimming or intensifying [sounds obvious but you never know

Benz--I would think that you can order an owner's manual from your Porsche dealer or look on eBay...there are tons of 996s out there. Even check places like LA dismantlers--they may have some too based on all the wrecked cars they get in there!
I think mine has a problem then as i tried what you are saying last night and it didn't work. I will take it to get it checked out as something is wrong or maybe it just needs a new bulb?
Thanks for the ideas on a manual too.
Ben
Your welcome and let me know if there is anything else I can do.Any may i just say if you said you bought the car yesterday and did not have a manual i would have posted a more informative reply, however i thought the picture of the ***** would have helped. whatever
Ben - welcome to the wonderful world of Porsche ownership and the Rennlist community. For future posts it also helps to state what year and model you have (1999, 2000, 2001 - C2, C4, cabriolet, etc...). In this case it's not a big deal but for some things the model and year make a big difference.
BEn - Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm! You DO know that we are going to need pics, don't you?
BTW, the ignition switch is on the LEFT side of the steering column!
Sorry... I couldn't help myself!
The first time I let a friend of mine drive the 911 he got in the driver's seat and then looked at me like "WTF does the key go". Then he asks "so does this have one of those keyless ignitions"? I was laughing too hard to show him but he found it after a couple of seconds.
Dwayne - I noticed your avatar states that you are in San Antonio. I lived in S.A. for 30 years. I still have a lot of family there. How long have you been there? Is the avatar pic a shot of your car?
