Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Good idea about bumper cover off to clean radiators.

When replacing my cover I did that and couldn't believe how much dirt and junk accumulates.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was changing the manual transmission fluid in my 996C4 this weekend and to my surprise I found out that the drain plug was not magnetized.... WOW!
What were Porsche thinking?
Along with the old fluid there were tons of metal shavings and brass chips (I am pretty sure from the synchro).
I am wondering did they not use a magnetic drain plug because they don't want people to find out about how it is breaking apart? or just to save a lousy buck?
LOL! Not yet, the car is still on jack stands. Doing the front brakes now, and then a complete brake fluid flush, and then maybe a spark plug change...... maybe the front bumper cover off for cleaning in front of the radiator. In any case, I figured it was hell getting the car on 4 jackstands, I wanted to leave it up there for awhile.
For sure I will post results of the fluid experience.
The sad thing is that my 993 is also in the process of a major tune up... 90k..... so now I have two disabled 911s....
Good idea about bumper cover off to clean radiators. When replacing my cover I did that and couldn't believe how much dirt and junk accumulates. Be sure to remove the ducts and even loosen the radiators themselves to get ALL the crud out.
I don't think the previous owner ever changed it. The bolts looks like they never been touched. I purchased the car with around 50k miles.
The 993's transmission drain plug is magentized. Now come to think od it, the 964's "ENGINE" drain plug was magnetized too, until the 993... then it became a regular drain plug....
So now they are cutting back on the transimission too.
I would like to know if there is a magnetic drain plug that would work as well. Although the syncros might be brass- I find that kinda too soft however, the gears themselves are not and if you botch a shift here and there then that crap will still remain in the fluid.
