I see that you can buy the auto dimming mirrors to retrofit on the 996, but how is it installed? Anyone do this before? Anyone know how much the mirror costs & a cheap place to buy? http://www.porsche.com/international...teriormirrors/

Bought mine through sunset and had it installed by my local indy. Mirror was quoted 3 hour install time (quoted as such in the TSB but actually took longer however my indy will NEVER charge me more than stated TU's). So $240 for the install.....and well worth it since they are insured. Why is that important? Simple. If you crack your front windshield when removing the old mirror you are out of pocket, if they do it, they have it covered! The mirror was 150. Total bill parts and labor $400. IMHO not worth it but the wife loves the dimming feature at night.
