I replaced the #14 mechanism but it was with a used part that was slightly different casing (still fit, but had to be massaged).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My passenger door won't lock with the fob or the key, even when turning the key 3 times quickly. I get the double beep. The dome light doesn't go on when the doors are opened, but it will turn on with the dome light switch, so I know the bulb is good. The windows work properly when opening and closing the door. I'm guessing one of the door-micro switches is not working, but any idea which one? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Probably the door latch mechanism with microswitches, all of which are not repairable or replaceable. If the door does not lock with the dash button (manually locking the car)...it is the door latch mechanism. Replace it. #14 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=804-00

POST 3Original post

There is a thread in this forum on using a much less expensive VW (as I recall) latch and swapping some of the plastic bits. if you don't mind a little project, you can save some money. The VW latch is identical other than the bits that are swapped.

POST 5Original post

I have the same problem. Get the double beep and both doors lock but then immediately unlock using the fob. If I turn and hold the key in the driver door, the pass side will lock and the dash lights turn off but the driver side door still wont lock. I replaced the #14 mechanism but it was with a used part that was slightly different casing (still fit, but had to be massaged). Possibly was sent the wrong model year (EBay parts supplier). Just ordered another mechanism thats def from a 99 C2. Will let you know if it solves the problem.

POST 6Original post

Im soooo happy his morning youve no idea! After a year of chasing down the double beep/no driver side lock issue I finally fixed it. Funny thing is Ive had the door apart so many times I can switch out the lock mechanism in underneath an hour now and trust me Im a klutz with a wrench. When I bought the car over a year ago the driver door would lock but only unlock after about 10 or so tries. So I changed out the door handle latch after doing some YouTube research to try to figure out what the problem was. New latch didnt fix it. So I ordered a door lock mechanism off of EBay. When switching it out I noticed it was very slightly different (see pic. Blue connector on the first EBay replacement as opposed to the black connector on the other). After switching the lock the problem of the door staying locked was resolved but now I was getting the double beep and both doors would lock then immediately unlock. Even holding the key in the door would lock the pass side but not the driver side. Saw a MK1 mechanism on EBay this week for $65. Snagged it right away. The MK1 has the black connector and the other side of the mechanism is also slightly different. Theres a red plastic piece on the one that didnt work as opposed to a white plastic piece on the MK1. Im wondering if Porsche changed the lock mechanism slightly from MK1 to MKII. The lock with the blue connector fit but needed some massaging to do so. It was a little wider and never felt right when bolting it in. Anyway, installed the 2nd EBay mechanism this morning and problem solved!!!! No more double beep, doors lock every time with the fob. So stoked!!!!!!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again. Time to look into replacing the door latch mechanism.

POST 8Original post

Hope you get it solved DBF. Its not that tough to replace the mechanism. And if anyone with a MKII needs a driver side mechanism Ill be selling mine cheap as Ive no use for it.

POST 9Original post

Any chance you can you point me to the forum? I am tempted to try this but not sure it will fit. Thanks! I have an 01 Carrera 4. I found a 99 Passatdoor lock.
