POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I Won my speeding ticket and got my bail refunded! Don't all your whiners and bush voting police lovers look a little silly now? I am glad that my post exposed such a passion for the wonderful policeforce. remember Rodney King and many many others being beaten and kicked without reason!! I forgot the police is a better human and therefor allowed to hit and kick people when they are down!! Even when they are 10 against 1. Peace and Love!!

POST 2Original post

That's great, what was the content of the letter. Let the cut and paste begin!

POST 3Original post

Nicolaasdb, Congratulations on getting off that one! You are now officially my speeding ticket consultant if I ever need one in future. Does this only apply to California?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The letter I cut an pasted from was (I believe) from Virginia...but check it out on ticketassasin.com I it is a shareware site...they charge you 25 bucks, but you can choose not to pay it...I paid hopeing that the good karma would payback..and it did!! *** I am NOT affiliated with ticketcassasin.com in any way...just a very very happy costumer!!

POST 5Original post

Congrats on beating the ticket - I'm proud of you - as for the term "pig", my wife was sexually assualted earlier this year (luckily didn't make it to a full rape) and the police have been responsive, supportive, and have come by in their off hours numerous times to check on the well being of her and my two boys, so I have to give some props to the police. I think it's like any profession - a minority of the whole spoils the reputation for the entire group. I'm not on a soapbox, I'm just saying...

POST 6Original post

You got the check, but did you get any documentation that the ticket was waived, you were found not guilty or anything else from the county in which you live?

POST 7Original post

I just fought a ticket in Virginia using a an internet ticket fighting site. I can't seem to find your defense on ticketassasin.com do you have a direct link?

POST 8Original post

I saw the word "pig" and stopped reading. I can honestly say I'm sorry you got out of the ticket.

POST 9Original post

your an idiot.."pigs"save lives also..you speed and get a ticket...dont speed or be prepared to get a ticket..you sound like a guy with wrx sti

POST 11Original post

Sorry I won't lighten up. Maybe it's my generation (I'm 47) but when you called a policaman a "pig" it was the like callinga black man the n word. I have three sons aged 16 to 22 and if I heard any of them use the same word in the same context i'd explode. If someone thinks it's important to brag about going 50% over the speed limit and getting away with it they can do it. No need to denegrate someone who is doing their job and could get killed the next time they pull over someone for speeding. We all have fast cars and we sometimes get tickets. That's life. For my money policeman aren't pigs, women aren't bitches and I won't lighten up. Hey, maybe i am an old man.

POST 12Original post

i am with you oh 997..i am sorry that i wrote you are an idiot, but it burns me up to here that...and sorry,i feel that idiot was appropriate..we drive classy sports cars and maybe we should show a bit of class.

POST 13Original post

Hey, I know African American LEO's current and retireed and none believe being called a pig is like being called the N word. It's attacking a proffession not a skin color that one has no control over. Carry on.

POST 14Original post

You can debate the degree but neither is acceptable. That's my opinion and it probably won't change.

POST 15Original post

There is really no need to call a police officer a pig; I don't care what you drive, your background, age, race, or how mad you are. You were speeding and got caught. How could that be the police officer's problem? It is nice to brag on how you beat the system. Enjoy it. But no real need to be disrespectful of a profession. Now, go buy a lotto ticket, enjoy the weekend and stay away from trouble.

POST 16Original post

I get a kick out of people who use such offensive words to describe police officers and then are the ones to cry the loudest when they need one.

POST 17Original post

Great story. I would rethink the term, "pig." I have family in law enforcement and they would be more than willing to lay down their lives for the people they serve. There are many good cops out there.

POST 18Original post

Now I know why your screen name is arr0gant - telling people to "lighten up" when they're trying to harbor positive feelings for people who risk their lives is pretty interesting. There is a motorcycle cop outside of my building who writes j-walking tickets all day and I think it's a joke, and I've received more tickets than I would like to admit over the years - but I WAS speeding. I'm not going to degrade police in general for either reason. The original message not only said "pigs" but also said "I hate the bastards". Part of the reason that I enjoy this forum so much is that people are often funny and sarcastic without being offensive. There are also former law enforcement professionals (and perhaps some current) who are members here. Should we hate them too? or do we drop the hatred now that they're retired?

POST 21Original post

Anyway, I always plead "not guilty". The "law enforcement officials" never show up. If they do show up, I either have my case ready or I ask for a continuance. I haven't been convicted of speeding in 8 years and haven't paid one penny towards my several "alleged" speeding incidents. Pig is just a slang term for crooked cop. Any intelligent person respects the tought work officers do. I for one, am not going to make a big deal, or lose any sleep over someone calling a cop a pig. Its all in fun.

POST 24Original post

Sure it's all in fun. Just like when someone calls a mexican a spic, or an Asian a Jap, or a Jew a Kike. Those situations crack me up all the time. Like just the other day some Pollack ..... I have no use for political correctness but even less for intolerence. Even if you think it's ok to call a crooked cop a pig what makes this officer crooked.? Nicolas admitted he was going 50% over the speed limit.

POST 25Original post

sorry arrogant just joking....by the way..were you the guy that bought a c4s and found out it had flood damage?..did everything end ok(i hope)..see ya,j

POST 26Original post

Everything worked out, totally. They gave me all my money back, PLUS air-fare for 2, and my gas money for the trip back, as well as payed to ship the car back to Houston. I was lucky. Found a lighter optioned C4S in Dallas with half the miles. Only 17k on the clock. Final price was $56,500

POST 27Original post

Well now the porcupine vs. the Porsche joke makes sense.

POST 28Original post

"Cause the ****** are on the INSIDE" Very nice!! I prolly deserved that.

POST 29Original post

Yeah, here is a pic of center console in 'Gants first car (the sub). The top switch activates the Sonar and the second switch raises/lowers the Periscope!

POST 30Original post

Nicolaas probably has the worst attitude towards police that I've ever seen. I never really wish bad things on people, it's not my style, but I really hope that one day he learns his lesson that the Police are there to protect society (and don't make the laws that they enforce) and that he might actually need one for something. I really hope that they don't show up when he needs to call, as he really doesn't deserve their help. Self-responsibility is a wonderful thing, but sadly Nicolaas lacks that, along with maturity, and many other positive attrtibutes. As someone else said, he is classless and his attitude denegrates the car that he drives. If you speed, accept responsibilty when you get caught. Noone forced you to put your foot down, you did in full knowledge of the consequences when you get caught. Common sense and a good radar detector are the best protection from speeding tickets. I've never seen anyone so deserving of NOT getting off from their ticket. Congratulations in getting off the ticket, even though you really don't deserve it.

POST 31Original post

A MAN is someone who does the crime and is prepared to do the time. Whatever happened to accountability in this country? The term "pig" should not be used.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Police and saving peoples lives???? Ever seen a higway patrol cop...I mean officer safe anybodies life??? They sit back wait till the fireman comes (which are the reall hero's...who actually safe lives!!!) and then write a report!! They are never there when you need them!!! Read another post on rennlist...guy was shot at called 911 but the police didn't show even after 30 minutes!! They were to busy writing speeding tickets!! So give it up ..... if you are a power tripper, you become a cop......but let me be more specific: cops...beat cops ( the ones driving around and keeping our cities safe from robber and rapers etc) and detectives (solving crimes) great guys with brains ( I hope until they send someone to jail for life for a crime they didn't commit!!) they get all the respect they deserve!! BUT cops on bikes (motor bikes) and the highway patrol whateveryouwanttocallthem......USELESS!!! Here in the states no ones sticks to the rules anyways....passing right and left....driving 35mph on the left lanes (on a 6 lane highway!!) etc etc...they don't get pulled over..... And Oreganet.....go fish....give me one example I would need a cop for???? Go think about it the whole week...hope you lose your license next time you speed....or ofcourse you are lawbiting citizen and never speed!!! Whatever..... All rest....with their opinion...are you the people voting for bush??? I thought so...thanks!!

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

by the way Zoolander...read the post....I passed another car and went rigth of the gas!! Speeding means going a certain speed for a period of time...no just a spurt!!! of a second or 2!! And the rest of traffic was going about 68....get it?? A MAN..... ever served your country for 8 years??? MAN!!

POST 34Original post

very true, i have some close friends in the force. BUT there are plenty of pathetic one's too. let's no forget that. and i am not just talking about those who write speeding tix.

POST 35Original post

Nicolas "speeding means going a certain speed for a certain period of time?". WTF? If it registered on your speedometer you were going that speed for a period of time that was long enough for it to register 70+. The rest of the traffic was going 68 in a 50 and you had to pass? Your attitude represents what is fundamentally wrong with a lot of people today. You are never at fault. You borke the law but that doesn't matter. You were unfairly singled out because you drive a Porsche. Take responsibility for your action. Maybe you were singled out because of your car but if you weren't breaking the law you wouldn't have been stopped. Regarding your question why you would ever need a highway patrol officer if your that dense there is no sense trying to help you understand. Also, if you think these guys got into law enforcement because they wanted to write speeding tickets that's ludicrous. I could ask you what you do for a living and give you an example of a lousy human being who chose that profession. That doesn't make all of them creeps. Maybe the next time you will go left of center and hit a family in a mini van head-on, killing all inside. When that happens make sure you tell us all how you beat the rap.

POST 36Original post

Examples you might need a cop for? just a short list - you car gets stolen, your wife gets raped, your house gets broken into, you get attacked on the wonderfully safe streets of LA (Not that you deserve it or anything ). Take your pick. As for not speeding - most of us speed. I do. I generally go with the flow of traffic and sometimes I lead the pack. Not excessive on a busy road, but I have been known to put my foot down on a quiet road. If I'm caught, then my bad, I take responsibility. I've had had one speeding ticket in my life and guess what, it was in EXACTLY the same situation as yours. I was ticketed doing 80mph overtaking an old guy going slowly in the middle lane. I didn't whine and I'm not bitter. I deserved the ticket because I should have been more patient. I take responsibility for my actions. I say what I mean and mean what I say. When my words and actions get me into trouble, I take responsibility. It is clear that strength of character is something your parents never taught you. I pity you. Sometimes I wonder if you really believe what you're saying, or it's just a sad cry for help and attention.

POST 37Original post

997 - He's a photographer. He hangs around with models who also have bad attitudes. Check out the link in his sig.

POST 38Original post

A photographer? Makes sense. A one dimensional attitude stuck in a two dimension life. As much as any person on this board he should understand the difference between appearance and reality. A picture may be worth a tousand words but it doesn't tell the whole story. hey, since most models are on herione (i saw a story about Kate Moss on ET and she was on it so all the other modesl must be too!), and most heroine addicts hang out with other users what should we infer about Nicolas? After all, he had no problems putting a label on a cop he knew absolutely nothing about. By the way Nicolas, I am not even remotely implying i know you, just making a point.

POST 39Original post

Every state is different. I was 8-1 in California. Up here in WA I'm 2-2. They really have a racket up here!!! That said I fight EVERY ticket. It's our right, and IMHO our duty to hold them equally accountable for stopping us and handing out performance awards or whathaveyou. Congrats!! If more people exercised thier right to appear in court and make them prove their case... well.. how many do you thnk would be tossed because they would not have the manpower to handle them all, plus it would take the profit motive out of the citation, IMHO. Just some food for thought.

POST 40Original post

Quite true. I have 3 in my family (aunt, uncle, cousin). One of them returned from Iraq last year (head of an MP unit). They are honorable people. That still does not change my opinion about the profit motive driving speeding tickets.

POST 41Original post

That still does not change my opinion about the profit motive driving speeding tickets. The primary reason for aggressive enforcement of speeding laws is revenue collection. BTW I'm not talking about guys racing on public roads and significantly exceeding speed limits; I'm talking about the guys who are given tickets for going 78 in a 65 zone. State and local governments have become highly dependent on income raised by strict enforcement of the traffic laws. Washington DC has gone into a frenzy with the insatllation of cameras at many of their intersections.

POST 42Original post

i USED to speed a lot and have lots of tix. i lost my lisence, i paid huge amount of fines...... i understand that i broke the law (sometimes on purpose, i mean we DONT ACCIDENTALLY speed, we do it knowingly)....you take responsibility for it ..... anyways, that moronic period is long over. i no longer drive fast and i dont caravan with any car groups b/c i set my CC at 5mph above speed limit and drive on the slow lane. all my friends hate driving with me, but i am tix free now. that aside, you comment about cars get stolen, wife gets raped and house broken into.... well, my car has been stolen. a vw scirocco in college and a 300ZX in 86. in one case the cop took the report over the phone and wont bother coming out to the site. holy ****, how are you gonna catch the thug if you dont come out and look at the site. why dont they just PLAINLY tell me that "we are too busy chasing OJ, we have no time to chk out your 10k stolen car." then i will understand. what IS the point of taking my f'k report over the phone. i pay tax which in turn pay them, i have a prob. you come out to help, however small the prob may be. my parents' house was broken into. and i have spoken abou this issue on RL before. parents don't spk english lives in an exclusive neighborhood. the cops didn't ever pretend to whisper. loud in the open "they probably staged the break in...." WTF,if my parents wanted to stage a break in, they would have report cars stolen, computer, furniture blah blah and total loss was over $10M so we can claim on insurance. no, the only thing stolen was an old TV. our furniture are all antique from china, the sofa was over 100 lbs so the thieves more it from living room to the front door and gave up. left it by the door. now HOW DO PPL WITH ZERO IQ become cops. think about this episode. and for the moment, lets assume my family staged the break in. until the cops can CONCLUSIVELY proof that, they really should say nothing. i see tons of chp driving around using up fuel. when my car is broken on the side, the drive by and dont even wave? are they blind? now NOT everyone is like that. some chp has stopped to help my wife change tire, and help me call tow trucks. so i wonder what is the protocol. chp should leave the motorist to rot on the street when car is broken or render help. i have seen both an di like to know what to expect. eihte rway is fine, but it needs to be consistent. and dont give me bs about all of them REALLY do their job. one of my best friend from HS is now a CHP. he said that th eir are perks for them. he's late to a ball game, turn the light on and 100mph he goes. the orig poster was just telling his story. maybe PIG is the wrong word, but i dont think fighting tix is wrong, he has the right to do so, you dont have to agree with him. my point is that dont be so sure that the "authority" is always right. and as another data pt. after i got my license back, the court record didn't get to DMV and DMV thinks i was still suspended (this is long ago when i was young and idiotic). well i got stopped and car impounded. almost put in jail. then parents had to hire a top flight attorney, i do mean top teir, to look into it. and it turned out DMV and the courts were at fault. but guess what, they just removed the suspension record and think like nothing happened. i still had to pay a very very hefty impound fee for their MISTAKE.

I don't dispute the right to fight a ticket. I don't dispute that traffic laws are used as revenue generators. I agree and I wish anyone who gets off a ticket well . I dispute people using a bad attitude towards people who are simply doing their job and enforcing dumb laws that the people WE elected put on the books. Sure, there are some bad cops out there, but the vast majority are good people who care and love their job. They do a job that neither you nor I would do - a very dangerous one at that. When I see bouts of verbal diarrhoea, such as the junk that Nicholaas routinely spouts I think that someone needs to take off their hat of superiority and put themselves in the shoes of a cop for just 5 minutes. Maybe they'll then develop and insight and maturity way beyond their shoe size and realize that sometimes we just have to see life from someone else's perspective, take some self-responsibility for our actions, stop whining about how hard done-by we are and be proactive about making a change in our attitude. Just my $0.02

POST 44Original post

I fundamentaly disagree with most everything Nicholaas has said. But c'mon you guys. This is getting way and out-of-hand. As I said before, we all need to lighten-up a bit. Some people feel differently about police than others. We are no better than other message boards I frequently "troll" if we all act like this. Oreganat, you know you're my boy, but your comments were a little harsh (IMO). I don't think it's nessesary to treat eachother that way, even if some of us have "extremely" differing views.

POST 45Original post

I know we're buds, and I agree that everyone has a right to their opinion. Really, the first amendment was great when we had it. I've slapped Nicholaas before on this issue and will not do so again - I'll let others take up my job here - but really he does need to chill his attitude a little towards the police. I'd glad to see that the majority disagree with him. I've said my piece and I know that his attitude will not change and my words are mostly wasted. I'll now shut up.

POST 46Original post

hey, i understand your points well now. and i agree with them. my gripe was just that, like all professions, there are saints and there are dog ****. i just explode when ppl tell me (not you specifically) that all cops are good, are doing their job or are bad or idiots. that's all. well now that i am way off topic and provided some bad experience i had with cops, let me put in a good story. i was speeding, coming off thunderhill, anything less than 100mph seems stationary. a sentra was following me.... suddenly siren and light blazing from the sentra, i kid you now. PA system goes off, pull over, this is CHP, you can follow me to the CHP station...." well i pulled over. he showed me the badge and i knew i f'k up. i told him, sorry officer, i just go out of the race track and was a bit over my head and clearly way over speed limilt. he's was good natured, off duty, told me... yeah, i know. you are going fast, but not zig zaggin and dont appear on drugs or drun.. slow it down a notch and carry on. that little chat was much more useful than slowing me down, saving my life and others lives then giving me a tix. i admire that, he was HELPING me learn, not just stiff me with a tix b/c if he did, i would just pay the fine and cont. to speed to be spiteful (remember, i was young and idiotic then).

Come on, get real. In your list above most police departments crime fighting response would consist of writing a report for a stolen car or a home theft. They would then refer you to your insurance company to replace your property. If you believe they are going to crack open the fingerprinting kit, interview neigbors and actually try to solve these crimes you've been watching too much CSI. The only crime you listed that would probably get the attention of most departments is rape. Yet many of these same departments will pour huge amounts of money, personal and sophisticated equipment into speed limit enforcement. What is the difference??? MONEY!! They get nothing for catching the little worm who keyed your car, but they get $75 if they spot you going 8 mph over the limit. Worse still, government used to set limits looking at the 85th percentile rule. Now limits are often set to maximize revenue. I am not going to defend the terminology used by some to describe the police. However, in many cases the poor reputation of police officers in the general public have been earned by their poor behavior and tactics. The worst of which are laws (like speeding) that they will not hesitate to apply to the public and often ignor themselves. I know and have met multiple police officers who will privately admit that they just "flash the badge" to get out of speeding tickets. One in particular is probably the most flagrant speeder I have ever met.

Ray, I'm sure you're a smart guy. The world isn't as perfect as we all would like it to be. We're coming into performance appraisal season and as I tell my reports, there's always room for improvement. I should only need to say three words to explain that in a world of finite resources and infinite ways to get into trouble these three words rule EVERY part of our lives: cost/benefit analysis. It's that simple. True for them, true for us. I have a value on one hour of my time - if a task costs less to have someone else do a job than the value I put on my time, then I pay someone to do it. Police deploy resources where they can have most effect. We might not like that and might disagree, but until you're in charge of staffing, then I guess we live with it. Sadly, the world is not perfect and we elect and employ idiots to be our public officials. Until that changes, then I guess we have to put up with the flawed people that we put into positions of power.

LEO's are just like every other person with a regular job. Take a look around your work or Rennlist for that matter... How many A-holes do you find, 1 in 10? more? less? Same rules apply. As far as revenue generation, the LEO's who actually do the checkpoints and speedtraps have no control over their frequency of operation. They are simply assigned a task to complete (just like most of us at the office) or a quota in order to receive a decent review and advance their career and avoid being reprimanded, written up, demoted, etc. Most of these guys would rather not have to sit in the bushes all night and listen to us whine about how we didn't realize we were going that fast... As far as cops violating the law, I find it hard to believe any officer would run code to a "ballgame" as someone stated, as this is A BIG no no with very harsh consequences (loss of job etc). Showing the badge when stopped in plain clothes is done out of necessity, as most officers conceal carry off-duty and are required by law to identify themselves as such upon a traffic stop. It is then at the LEO's discretion on whether or not to issue a ticket and this varies from department to department but most do not ticket for minor speeding infractions out of professional courtesy. Derogatory remarks have no place or purpose furthering one's argument and only reflect poorly upon the poster. climbing down the Andrew

I agree. It's a problem with the system, not so much with the officers themselves (there are exceptions at both extremes). Last year the state parol here was giving away prizes to the guys that wrote the must speeding tickets (a model WSP car woth several hundred dollars). Media got wind of it.. lots of people were pretty mad. I'm sure that was not the only instances of 'spiffs' for writing the most revenue generating citations. These guys have to deal with dismembered bodies, idiots going 200 MPH on the freeway (sometimes pulling a wheelie the entire time.. it's not easy job for sure). I don't envy them. The sytem that puts them out there on the roads just to fill ticket quotas is something I have a MAJOR problem with. I also know that for the most part they don't set speed limits. I know the CHP activly lobies the CA legislature to set limits WELL BELOW the engineering servey.. I've read them myself. This I do not. I been witness to this myself during a ride along. I've watched a cap beat the snot out of a drug dealer, take his drugs, let him go and then use them himself. I'd met several of his buddies involved in petty crime while on and off duty. Mind blowing. So running code to get places? I have not doubt that goes on. Agreed. That's an 'F' in Debate 101. As far as the professional courtesy goes. Well.. let's just say that a simple business card in the hand of a drunk is sometimes good enough to keep them from going to jail that night. Please.. I really wish I didn't know that sort of stuff went on out there. I can't image who much city and state officials get away with....

We got a bunch of old men wearing g-strings in here...lol. The good cops are called police and the bad ones are called 'pigs'. Discussion over.
