Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 02 4S makes a thud noise in the front end when driving. I notice it at slow speeds when gliding. Foot on gas, don't notice it. The noise was there at PPI and not brought up by PPI guy. I guess it could be tons of stuff but any suggestions on where to start? Thanks, David

POST 2Original post

Start with getting the car to someone that knows what they are doing. There are many moving parts in the suspension.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I can do that. I just figured I could poke around first. Thanks.

POST 4Original post

I just went through everything except tie rods on MY02-996tt. My issue was ball joints. They moved laterally (up and down) not radially. My car passed inspection too but on the road made all kinds of noises. It starts with a thud then turns into clunk then rattle.

Are you referring to the Coffin arms?

POST 6Original post

I would bet your shocks mounts are destroyed. Is quite common with age more than mileage.
