I'm late on this, but I did this myself when I replaced my whole lid with the GT3.

Our region PCA magazine used the pix for last year's Sept 11 Patriot Day edition.

Suggestion
I really like the silver Carrera emblem I used to have but the new Chrome 911 is a great change of pace and more unique--I like that

I included a rear full shot and an up close shot with a line bisecting the middle of the truck lid measure out to make sure it passed the centered test.....it passed

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You guys and gals that got the 911 emblem; could you have left the Carrera on and mounted it above? Or when you take the Carrera off does it mount above or in same location? Could the logo be shaped (bent) to fit above? Does the year of car matter for emblem? How much $$ ? Last but most important, got pics?
Either Carrera or 911 not both, too long and would look cheezy. I thing the Carrera emblem was redesigned in 2004 but the Carrera boys would know better than me.
Ciao,

I agree with Johannes, keep it simple, use only one. And if your choice is the "911" emblem, be extra careful with the proper alignment. A tiny mistake makes the whole thing look cheesy. Here's some examples: First picture is the rear of my 40th Anniversary, with correct factory installed 911 emblem. Second picture is a DIY job gone wrong on a 997.
John - Eric at BumperPlugs.com has the Silver 911 logo for $50 and the matte Black for $18. You have to click on "Order" at the top of his page to see all of he specific items he carries. The site is a little cumbersom in that way.
Personally I prefer the Carrera logo. I may be wierd but I think there is just something really neat about the word "CARRERA"
The OEM Black Carrera did't show up very well on my dark car so I got a Silver one from Eric. Looks much better now, IMO.
Are you thinking black or silver on the 911 logo?
I'm going to go with the silver, I wish they made a black CF; now that would be trick. Maybe they do and I don't know about it. Anyone, class; Bueller?
I too like the Carrera emblem but will stick with black as my car is AS. I saw several carbon fiber emblems on the web. I searched Porsche parts and found them so if cf is what your after, search! you'll find it.
Funny this thread came up. I just did this yesterday on my car. I had the silver carrera badge and got it caught on one of my wash rags and ripped part of it up. Only I could notice it but it drove me crazy so I replaced it. Thought I would give the silver 911 a shot. Actually really like it. Picked up mine from Sunset for only $14 !!!
If anybody want to see pics I will gladly run down to the car and snap a quick one.
Wow, the off center pic doesn't look bad until you drew that line.. I think I might be in trouble if you got a hold of my car..
I tried to line it up as centered as possible but who knows..
Where can I get the silver carrera emblem?
Ask and ye shall receive. Sorry about the exposure, the sun is beating down on my garage right now. I included a rear full shot and an up close shot with a line bisecting the middle of the truck lid measure out to make sure it passed the centered test.....it passed
I will take a better pic later when I am in better lighting so you can see the emblem better. It is a beautiful chrome 911 that goes on the 40th. Part number is 996 559 237 05.
Dell, I was just about to ask why you put the 911 logo so high... then I read down further.
99-01 Above the curve... 02+ Below the curve
I didn't know that! Learn something every day!
I thought about placing below the curve and got several opinions (including my own
) and much prefer it above the curve. 2 reasons I did it that way.....(1) 99-01 is above and (2) I like it.
Now that skool is out I can bum around a lot. Just did my wife's Volvo (I think I said that right) with Maquires 3 step then finished it off with NXT...that stuff just dazzles!!!
Black on your SY would look good. My car came with the black Carrera emblem, and was almost invisible so I changed it to a brushed silver logo. Looks better, IMO.
I have one on my car also. I was at the dealer awhile back. The tech mentioned to me that it was only the second one he had seen on a car. He then invited me in to see what I might be preventing. They had a car up on the lift that had bottomed out. Tore out half the oil pan. $10,000 repair. Again, best $100.00 spent. Although the guys at tech bitch about it every time because the car is lowered and they can't get the jack under the engine to lift it just abit to get it on the lift....
Stan,
I'm late on this, but I did this myself when I replaced my whole lid with the GT3.
I put the "911" right where the Carrera would go. I would not put both myself. Here's a pix of it. Our region PCA magazine used the pix for last year's Sept 11 Patriot Day edition.
That emblem I got in the picture is OEM, paid $16 or $18 from eagleday.com early last year. Good luck.
My car came with nothing from the factory on the rear deck. It was ordered that way with the model delete option. A couple of years ago I thought a 911 would look good and installed it in satin black on my A/S car. I've not seen another in the flesh.
The reaction I get from people is interesting in that most are not "Porsche" people. They think that the 911 is the rarest, most expensive and most sought after Porsche and is different than the Carrera that they usually see.
Where can you get the Silver one online? Only one I see is on bumperplugs or Eagleday Chrome for like $180 or Black for $20. I know it doesnt cost $160 to chrome a tiny emblem...
Black would be invisible on my black car. Help!
Prices for the chrome one have sky rocketed over the last year, hell, even the last 6 months, COST on this has gone up, not profit, talk to Eric at Bumpeplugs, he'll explain.....I work at a Porsche Dealer, and his prices are not artificially inflated, believe me....I went with black, my car is silver, though....you could by black, then paint it Silver
I made it in a 996 C2 from a friend of mine
I purchased the rear emblem in Eagleday, but now it's only available in black.
Note: the emblem is provided of a double sticky paper with 4 drills
The best thing to center the emblem, is to measure the distance at the sides and center it with a marker, in the 4 drills.
Then just stick the logo

I went with only one, I think both back there would be way too busy. I went with the 911 because i was sick of getting this" What kind of Camero is that?" Yea I know ....WTF??
