Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

PPI should reveal any mechanical issues however I heard stories of RMS failure occuring even with a clean PPI.

60k service should have been done by now, see if you could run the VIN# to see what is in the service database where the vehicle was purchased.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Generation: 20261026T113718Z · outcome-qualification-6. Deterministic extraction; no AI model inference. How we use sources

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at another 2000 996 Cabriolet tomorrow and I have a few questions. The car has already passed a PPI for another potential buyer (he couldn't come up with the funds). I need to do my own walk around and drive. Any tips on specific things like slowness of the top operation or clutch shudder, etc.? I know all of the typical stuff but I really want to be thorough on this car. It has 78k miles so a few rattles and a little suspension looseness should be forgiven.

POST 2Original post

Do you due diligence, ask to see the service history. 60k service should have been done by now, see if you could run the VIN# to see what is in the service database where the vehicle was purchased. PPI should reveal any mechanical issues however I heard stories of RMS failure occuring even with a clean PPI. Did you get the PPI or was it from the PO? If from the PO, get your own PPI from another source.

POST 3Original post

My advice is to look at and drive as many cars as possible. That way you can get a really good sense of what is normal and abnormal. And when you find an exceptional car, then you make the leap. Michael (current owner of an exceptional '02 cab)
