Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Unfortunately I will be unable to run a dyno before.
Leading evidence: 'Run dyno' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run dyno' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Adding them to my system running fabspeed super cup exhaust, headers, and intake.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am arriving soon at 100k miles on my 2002 996 c2. The car is running stock exhaust. The mufflers had the Carnewal GT mod done by the previous owner.
The flanges at the engine end of my headers are in really bad shape. At some point I will need to look for a replacement, so a good moment to maybe look for an upgrade. The mufflers are still ok, but start showing signs of age too.
Together with that I know that also the catalytic converters do not have eternal life. I will look to replace them in the event they are toast with a 200 cell type. I am in Europe so no problems for running those.
Any guidance to what I should choose. Stay OEM or look for a (used) sport header or custom made? Any advice on what would work and sound best without compromising performance. Any thoughts how the flow can be further improved for a reasonable price.
Should I replace step by step the different stages in the exhaust, i.e. start with new headers, or should I wait and do an all at once upgrade.
I just order my cats from fabspeed. 2 weeks to make cuz outta stock so now I wait. Adding them to my system running fabspeed super cup exhaust, headers, and intake. Can't wait. Car sounds nasty now. Can't wait til after
Guys, this guy is in Europe and has a lot of better options.
Personally, with the relaxed emissions over there, I would get cell 200 performance cats. Carnewal has a service that welds in 200 elements into the stock cats as an option too.
If I was over there, I'd be looking at the Cargraphic lineup. They have a few different sound options and has quite a bit of R&D into their systems.
Hi thanks for the feedback all of you.
Yes, I am in Europe. I know Cargraphic, M&M, etc ... But they are all also $$$
Especially cargraphic looks great. Well made and detailed finishing.
However I took the plunge to go for some cheaper alternatives that could be found here in Europe on e-bay.
Found
these
headers in Germany. The piping and welding is no rocket science, so the difference will be mainly the design, shape and lenght of the headers. Allthough I am aware that welding seams on te interior could cause some turbulences and affect laminar efficient flow. Off course the advert states some improved performance which I consider as pure marketing bs.
On top of that I ordered a
x-pipe with 200 cell cats
from the UK. 100 cell would have been be also a possibility. I think there is a small risk to not pass the emission test. But I think it would need a ECU remap on top of that to avoid a CEL. And I did not want to make it too complicated in case it would be a problem to pass the test.
Unfortunately I will be unable to run a dyno before. But maybe I will do an after one. Just to be curious about overall performance of the car nd to be sure there are no strange dips in performance over the rev range.
I know that going the El Cheapo way I could be compromising on finishing quality. But I refuse to pay 2400$ for a set of cargraphics headers and 2700$ for their cat system. Especially for the cat replacement. The design doesn't seem to me rocket science. Even the headers ... The biggest issue I see is the irregularities on the inside of the pipes caused by the welding. That nog real quality control is applied there to ensure nothing is disturbing to much the laminar flow inside the tubes.
I saw you had gone with a header and sport cats already, and wish you the best of luck! In the event things don't work out please feel free to shoot me a PM/Email/Call and I would be happy to work with you to meet your goals
Thank you for chiming in with your experience! I am glad to hear you are enjoying the upgrades, and would to see some picture/videos of the system to add to our website! PM heading your way about the cats
Thanks for your business Joe! We are in the fabrication process now and should have them shipping out to you early next week. Looks like the only thing left would be an ECU tune of the factory software. You have quite the build
Also, i'd like to add that we have clients all over the world running our products. It is no problem for us to ship directly to your door whether it be an hour away or across the globe. For those interested, just give me a shout and i'd be happy to put together a quote for you.
cant wait!!!! took 12 weeks off for my newborn, so when hes asleep i can throw these and the o2 spacers on!!! yes i have quite a build.......ecu only thing left......ur baiting me!!!!
For anyone interested, we also offer complete 996 exhaust systems including headers, X-Pipe or conventional cross pipes (catted or catless) and mufflers at a great price. Rennlist Member discounts, as well.
Congratulations man! I became second time father of a boy 7 weeks ago.
What is the main difference between the cross pipe and straight option. Mainly sound?
Congrats my man! If he won't go to sleep be sure to take him for a spin in the 911. It should knock him right out and plant the petrolhead seed early. Worked on me in my father's 87 RX7 Turbo, I was a demon child but in the back of a car I was out like a light in 5 minutes lol
I have tuned every car i've owned, so I know how much of a difference it makes to maximize the potential of all the upgrades working together with enhanced software. It was one of the first things I did to my Cayman R when I picked it up a few months back. I recommend it to everybody and have been for years...pure coincidence I now happen to work at a company that also offers ECU tuning haha.
I sometimes think if it is worth all the effort. Especially for the N/A Porsche engines. The gains are so small.
It is really that my exhaust is at its life end. So replacement needed. Then it is worth a try to mod a little and go for non OEM upgrades.
We will see ... Probably will look for a custom ECU tune to make it work more efficiently. Several good options here nearby.
Can somebody comment on the wider pipe design of the crossover?
