Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fall has hit NJ. On Sunday I took my 996 out for the day. The temperature was on the cool side so I did what I never do, rolled up the windows and closed the sunroof. I hit the "AUTO" button a set the temperature. Intermitently throughout the drive I smelled what was clearly antifreeze. I would last for a minute and then dissapear. The car only has 12,000 miles. Any thoughts ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

is there a small puddle of coolant under the left tail pipe after you drive it? perhaps coolant is leaking on the exhaust which quickly evaporates to give off that smell of antifreeze? perhaps it's a coolant tank leak? i had my tank and cap replaced under extended warranty.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The smell was coming through the vents.

POST 4Original post

Usually that means heater core or the lines to it.
