You can still use the factory power amp that is located in the trunk without tearing up the car cutting and splicing, that made it easier for me to make the swap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have searched the forums and found one post about this issue: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ght=dead+radio I have the stock CDR220 in my 00 996. It will not turn on at all. Have checked the fuses and they are all ok. Any other advice as to how to fix this issue?

POST 2Original post

IIRC, there is a fuse on the back of the CDR220? Have you tried contacting www.swstereo.com ?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did not know about that fuse. I will check it when I get home form work. Thanks for the link. Hasn't bothered me much since the engine sounds so great

POST 4Original post

I got a fix...toss the thing in the street, that has to be the worst sounding head unit ever. Replace it with a good quality head unit and you will be surprised over the sound difference! But if you want to keep it, there is a 10 amp fuse in the back of it on the left side (I am looking at my old CDR-220 right now). Anyways, if you were to change out the head unit, talk to a reputable car stereo installer and they will point you to a adapter to put just about any head unit in your car. Porsche uses the same wiring adapter as Audi/VW. The adapters are cheap. You can still use the factory power amp that is located in the trunk without tearing up the car cutting and splicing, that made it easier for me to make the swap. Almost completely a plug and play situation.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you need radio keys to pull the radio? Thanks for the info. I would like to keep the original radio since everything else on the car is 100% oem.

POST 6Original post

Yes, standard Becker radio (removal) keys. Make sure you have the codes for your radio before you remove it and reinstall it.
