Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That had better be east of Harrisburg or some how Pennsylvania has changed since I left!
Leading evidence: 'Replace since i left' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace since i left' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

No response required for this post. I'm just posting to get this on the record.
A search here and Renntech and found no posting of how to actually remove the 3rd brake light (lots of people posting that it took them time to figure it out, but no posting that I found of how to do it).
So, for the record, the third brake light is removed by keeping the screwdriver in the locking mechanism and using it as a lever to remove the light mechanism, pushing to the left and upwards the light will come out of the slot.
...simple when you know how. Took 10 minutes to figure out. Maybe I'm in trouble now because figuring out how to remove the light is an Indiana Jones type right of passage puzzle. My bad.
Apologies if this was posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it in my searches.
I even got the polarity right the first time by inserting the connector into the new fixture the same way that it was inserted into the old one.
Repeat after me... clear lighting is good! <grin>
Hmmm...maybe you're saying the same thing, and I just misunderstood. When I replaced mine, I just popped the plastic cap (on the left end of the light strip) which covers a slot, then inserted a small flat-head screwdriver into the slot and did a quarter-turn. The tab on the underside is what locks the light strip in place, so by turning the slot to a different position, the light strip is unlocked and slides right out. I didn't have to push with the screwdriver or use it as a lever to pry out.
Be good.
It was dark and not that exciting - I'll get some new photos once I've touched up the front bumper where the plate bracket used to be and inserted bumper plugs.... still waiting for the touchup pen.
No, you understood me correctly. My light fixture was immovable using fingernails, or the tip of a screwdriver into the seal. It took leverage to free it up from the seal and pull it out.
Where was the poor fit? I noticed that Porsche had inserted some padded tape behind my fixture - I assume to get a good fit. I was going to do the same with the new clear LED, but decided that it didn't need it, unless proven otherwise.
That's okay. I can take it. Don't worry, I'm hoping to get the car touched up and shiny enough for new photos before it goes away for the winter... provided that the weather cooperates.
Trust me on this...the clear third light does not fit a 996TT Cab. I have the pictures to show if you need them. The clear third light is just a bit narrower and so it does not cover the entire slot.
Sorry, I wouldn't argue with you. Considering that I have a C2 I really don't care whether the lights fit a TT or not - never even crossed my mind until you mentioned it, even then it still didn't concern me.
