Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't like covers except for indoor use on freshly cleaned cars because any dirt that gets on the inside of cover creates micro abrasions when putting on or off or from movement due to wind.
Leading evidence: 'Clean cars' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean cars' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I live in Seattle and we had 18" of snow all at once....it sagged like crazy with about 8" so I learned my lesson and went out each morning and evening and cleaned off by hitting canopy underneath.

Instead I use harbor freight $100 canopy that is 10 by 20 feet and screw joints and anchor to cinder blocks on each leg. We keep out rclass merc under it and it has worked great for 4 years though near end of life.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
eBay obviously has tones. One seller sells 1 layer through like 10 layer.
im not from the rich crowd but I want to protect my cabriolet through the season. Snow will never sit on it longer than a day or more than 4 inches. I just cannot stand the thought of it uncovered for the winter.
Any of the snow guys have a suggestion or one they have been using with success?
Thanks guys
Brian
I am looking for the same thing, looking forward to the responses. Was planning to go with WeatherTech since they make decent products for other purposes.
Covercraft makes excellent covers.
I've owned a 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder for around 15 years and most of that time was spent outdoors under one of their "Weathershield" line of covers, which are "custom" fit to specific models.
The cover that I bought about 12 years ago just started to wear (the seams started to come apart) and finally needed to be replaced this year. Covercraft still had the pattern for it, added 2 extra grommet holes front/back at no extra cost (so that I can tie it down further in windy conditions) and shipped it to me in just a few weeks; they only make a covers to order. Excellent customer service. I have no doubt that they can make an excellent cover for your 996 that will last many years.
See:

I go back and forth on this between a good cover or a good coat of wax (or a couple coats). The biggest drawback in my mind is that a cover invites rodents even though it does afford some level of protection from the elements (especially if you have to park under trees - big advantage over wax)...
I really like my oem porsche outdoor cover. It fits like a glove. Otherwise Covercraft makes nice stuff for the price. Going cheap on a car cover usually is a disaster in my experience. It can scratch up your car or end up across the street on a windy day.

But, will it support 4" of wet snow before collapsing?
I use similar style 10x10 pop ups for work on a daily basis. A good gust of wind will collapse the framework when anchored down. If the frame is round tube you should be good. The flat stuff bends and breaks real easy...
Great point....these are round tube so have not failed. I live in Seattle and we had 18" of snow all at once....it sagged like crazy with about 8" so I learned my lesson and went out each morning and evening and cleaned off by hitting canopy underneath. I found a picture with my 996 underneath.
What about these guys? I don't know about their quality but less expensive than Covercraft.

I'm just too cheap to pull the trigger myself...even on this
I also had the HF car canopy...make sure it is anchored well and maybe even duct tape the interior of the canopy, I had a windstorm rip the canopy apart like tissue paper, luckily it didn't collapse though.
Costco sells the Coverking Xtremeweave Custom cover online for $150. Bought one for my Cayman and it worked great. Planning to order one for my Spyder.
I highly recommend Coverking. They are made specifically for the vehicle. I have one on my MZ, which is outside in Las Vegas and my two Porsche's, which are in the garage. The best one for outdoor (as it will not let rain through, which most do) is the Mosom Plus.

I also have a coverking cover. Used at from November through April here in Central VA when it was too cold to drive on Summer tires. Not much snow here but it kept the care practically dry when there was rain.
