Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently purchased 996 turbo from a reputable dealership UK. 50,000 miles on clock and manual. Factory spec (no upgrades) It has an issue with clutch slipping. The clutch doesn't like acceleration in 3rd and 4th gear around 3,500 rpm. If I cruise around that range and then accelerate at speed the clutch slips as high as 5,000 rpm before biting (majority of the time lower) happened once or twice before but now noticing it more frequently. Would you say this is covered under warentee as only had the car 1 month, done 2,000 miles since purchase? Would you say the clutch is on it's way out? Any advice would be great, garage is calling me back tomorrow to discuss.

POST 2Original post

I have several answers and questions at the same time. 1. This may be better suited over on the Turbo 996 forum not the regular 996 side. Click here 2. What warranty? 3. Is it the original clutch? 4. 50,000 miles is about the normal mileage replacement for a 996 clutch.

Thanks, I will check it out. I have 1 year warranty with the dealership but wasn't sure if this would be covered. I didn't expect to buy a car from porsche and then the clutch to go within a month.

POST 6Original post

Clutch is a wear item, like brake pads. Probably not covered under warranty. Stuff wears out and you need to replace it. The cost of driving a "super car"...

POST 7Original post

As much as i agree that a clutch is a wear item i believe he should consult with the selling dealer. Had he purchased the car from a private seller or some fly by night dealer it would most likely be hopeless. However the OP does indicate he purchased the car a month ago from a Porsche dealer. It is very likely they will want to work with him to make sure he is happy.
