Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you're that worried about a major bill and can't CPO the vehicle, you should replace the vehicle.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

I was just researching to see which companies had a good reputation and good coverage and use the warranty as a bargaining tool with the non Porsche Dealer who has the car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Checking out the various warranty companies and a few will offer a warranty on a "99". Anyone had experience with Auto Service Warranty, Inc of Parma, OH or AAAutoWarranty.
I took an extended warranty and lost 2K...because they got liquidated by the state of Florida....now I am winging it!!! If something goes wrong.....I drive it into the ocean (live only a block away)!!

Best advice is to read many contracts and know what you are buying and ask lots of questions. Most I bet will offer you a named component warranty. You really need to read up on these warranties. There are so many questions to ask. Is wear and tear covered? Is diagnostic covered? Is there a deductible? Does it cover per visit or per part? Are there labor caps? What is covered what is not covered. Is it a named component or it an exclusionary type contract? Do you know the difference between the two? and on and on.

Here is my cynical $0.02...
If you're that worried about a major bill and can't CPO the vehicle, you should replace the vehicle. While I professionally admire insurance companies' ability to develop and sell all sorts of marketable products, as a consumer I think insurance is generally a bad bet, unless there is a large pool of like-minded individuals (i.e., life, disability, flood, etc.). Insurance companies sell these warranties because there is demand, but I seriously question i) how much they will cover if/when the time comes, and ii) whether a small company will be around to pay the claim.
If it makes you feel better, it may have utility. For me, even self-insurance (putting away the premiums) would be better. Again, just my thoughts. Good luck, either way.

The car is checking out on both the service record end as I was able to find out who sold the car, and was able to contact the PO. With all the RMS stuff and stories of engines and trannies that Chernobyl for no reason I was considering the possibilty of a warranty. Just wondering if those things are blown out of proportion like the head gasket thing on the 964's. It looks like the language in the warranties won't cover some real major issues if they happen. I was just researching to see which companies had a good reputation and good coverage and use the warranty as a bargaining tool with the non Porsche Dealer who has the car.
It's saved me a lot of money. I've had an engine and tranny fail on my 99, 24k in repair costs and the warranty covered it all but they won't cover Porsches anymore for some strange reason...
Alan,
I would contact my local Porshe dealer and see if they entertain and accept the warranty company. I was in the same predicament where I was going to purchase a 996 with extended warranty. I contacted my local dealer and they gave me their comments on expediting payments.
Guys i just took renewed the official porsche centre warranty on my 99 996C4cab which has 95000 miles on it. Porsche will extend warranty on the car up to 125,000 miles here in the UK.
The car came to me with the extended warranty and was piece of mind after reading the posts about RMS and blown engines.
2 weeks ago sure enough small drips on garage floor, car went to porsche dealer had RMS replaced and they replaced the clutch at the same time and only charged me for the clutch kit. No fuss or hassle just like it was a new car. They also replaced the courtesy light switch in the front trunk for me.
It cost me 725 = appx $1300 to renew for 1 more year. I have just taken the view that it is part of the maintenance costs to factor in when looking at the true cost of the car each year. I find it easier than constantly worrying about RMS and engine issues.
It is also tranferable and i know how much easier it made the purchasing decision for me, so i figured it might help if i need to sell the car within the next year.
My car has full Porsche history from day 1, i dont know how they would treat a car without full history if you do not have it.
