If I decided to replace my current 17" wheels with 18's (8" and 10") and an OEM size tire (225/40 F and 265/35 R ), what would be the proper offset that I should be looking for on my wheels, in order to avoid any problems or spacers?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had this posted under my 17" question, but decided that, in order to make a quick decision so that I can order my tires, I put it on a new thread: If I decided to replace my current 17" wheels with 18's (8" and 10") and an OEM size tire (225/40 F and 265/35 R ), what would be the proper offset that I should be looking for on my wheels, in order to avoid any problems or spacers? I bought a pair of aftermarket wheels for my 993 that I was very happy with, so I figured maybe now would be the time to move to 18's. I'm sure I could recoup some of the wheel cost by selling mine. Thanks guys!

POST 2Original post

For a C2 stock offsets are 50 in the front 65 in the rear

POST 3Original post

Depends on where you want the outside edge of the tire relative to the fender. If you want to fill the wheel well, you can go all the way to 48 in back and 45 in fronts. I have 52 in back and 48 in front and things are pretty flush with 1 degree neg. camber in front and 1.5 in the rear.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So under those circumstances 60 in with the rear wheels sb ok? Good stuff. Thanks!

POST 5Original post

While some might like the aggresive look like Russ, the factory offset of 50/65 with 5mm spacers (thus making it 45/60) gives it a nice look. I would NOT go more than about 10mm to a 40/55 look. But, like Russ suggested, going as far to 48 in the back (equal to a 17mm spacer) is too far and will stick out! Want proof? Borrow a widebody rear (their offset is 45) and mount it up and see what it will look like. The 5-7mm spacers seem to be the best sellers for a reason.
