With that I replaced just the thrust arms, as that was directly related to toe control during suspension movement, and honestly was the cheapest place to start.
Leading evidence: 'Replace just the thrust arms, as' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace anything else' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Bought both my B8's and Springs used but new, right here on Rennlist.

Suggestion
As a secondary suggestion I would think hard about replacing anything else that might be suspect in your suspension today.

Suggestion
Do I still plan on replacing the rest of the suspension?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My car has 74,000 miles and rear suspension seems to be a little "bumpy" I am fitting new engine mounts and deciding on shocks. I have some long trips this summer so looking for good road options.
Are Bilstein B8 a good alternative for factory replacement.
Thanks
John
I put Ohlins on my Targa and I really like them. I think about 90% of the time the best answer to a suspension question is M030 kit. Its a superb value and you get an OEM Porsche upgraded, slightly lower, full suspension kit.
B8/H&R Sport springs /HR adj sway bar is Setup I have on my 03 Targa. Recently did

It has good feel, lowers it 1.25" not costly per se. Bought both my B8's and Springs used but new, right here on Rennlist.

As a secondary suggestion I would think hard about replacing anything else that might be suspect in your suspension today. ex. Strut Hats/bearings, Covers, Bushings, etc. that if you didn't repair, that would require another visit to the alignment rack.
Redoing that $$$ expense because of a cheap part you didn't replace will drain any enthusiasm of the total spend or this major repair. Understand your budget and what can you get accomplished within that. Age of car and mileage mean all parts should be a concious decision of yes/no. Here is one place being a garage queen (every night) helps.
Then move on
I'm in the process of buying a '99 C2 with Bilsteins and what appear to be factory sport springs. The car rides noticeably harsher than the stock '02 C2 I used to own. I'm looking to put Koni FSD on as they're known for being stiffer on low speed movements (turns) and softer on high speed movements (bumps). I'll be glad to sell you the Bilsteins of this car though if you want.
^^Good information^^
You will be surprised on how much all of the small incidental parts are going to cost once you get into it.
I have had Bilsten B8s as they are part of the Techart suspension package. (Springs, Sway bars & Front Strut Support).
The package lowered the car 33mm.
On the road the ride it is ok, until I increased rim & tire width, 18" 9" & 18" 11". With 295/35 18 in the rear. That is 24" of rubber on the ground in the rear. Then it gotta a little harsh.
BUT, the car handles exceptional, street or track.
I don't have the skills to test the limits of my set-up on the track. But, last year my instructor took me for a ride in my car in the instructor run group at WGI.
I have done many laps around this track, been a passenger in other instructor cars, but I was white knuckled for three laps in the passenger seat of my own car.
Sumitomo street tires, doing a sub 2:18 laps in my daily driver.
So yes, Bilsten B8s are a good choice.
Keep us updated.

Back onto discussions on replacing shocks, I have just done 3 road trips with old suspension.
Kansas City to Road America roads good until you hit WS, "bumpy as hell". On the good hwy all was good but could rear end shocks and probably engine mounts need to be replaced.
Kansas City to DesMoine all hwy again a little loose on bumps
Kansas city to Covington KY, 9hrs, some hills and twists and turns mostly hwy again rear end seems a little loose.
So I have decided that I will be doing more of these long trips and could have partner with me.
I will want to keep ride height the same and get good shocks to keep her "stock"
which ones are the best?
My car felt really loose and somewhat sketch on the highway as well when I got it with 101k miles on it. Would make a sharp movement of the wheel and feel like it was lagging in input and wiggle around like the toe was loose.
With that I replaced just the thrust arms, as that was directly related to toe control during suspension movement, and honestly was the cheapest place to start.
Right away now the car is far more stable, comfortable and nowhere near as sketchy with just that simple replacement. Didn't need an alignment or anything.
Do I still plan on replacing the rest of the suspension? Yep, Koni FSB most likely, and replace the rest of the suspension arms. But the thrust arm is a great place to start and only takes about a half hour to change out.
