I bought the car with 18" BBKs installed which I don't really like and plan using them at track events.

- I came across a deal of used 996 18" turbo wheels with michelin sport tires (used too) on them for $1200.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm slowly looking for street wheels for my C4S, didn't see yet a design that i would fall in love right away. I bought the car with 18" BBKs installed which I don't really like and plan using them at track events.
I'm thinking getting 19" for regular street usage. Any pro/cons/issues/suggestions for that???
Please also post pictures of your favorite designs.
I paid an extra $1000 to get the car with both sets of wheels. The sport designs were on the option code, but I like Fuchs. They appear to be starke wheels from tire rack.

I have a set of NIB 18" Gemballa LeMans in 9" & 11" fitment, would probably need spacers for your wide body car ~~~~ sorry no center caps
also I have a set wide body fitment Turbo Twists / Hollow Spoke in phenomenal condition 8" & 11" ~~~~ sorry no center caps
I'd stay away from 19". The Fuch repo's are a timeless design and will make any car look good. Saw a set on and old 2wd Toyota pick up and it really stood out.
+996 and +951 on Sport Techno II - Not many ppl know about them and run them. They are relatively light with hollow spokes, came as an option on 996TT and can easily accommodate 295-315 mm section width in the rears... up to 245 mm in the fronts. I use them on my Silver Rose in my sig.
Not sure if your car is Arctic, but if you want some visuals on a C4s....
Bought the car with 19" Carrera Classics (997) and would have kept them, but they were worn out aesthetically, were not oem (replicas) and were NB fitment with 23mm rear spacers....
So I went with Forgestar CFV-5 19" wheels in gloss black and they are lighter than the oem hollow spokes...
So to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with 19" wheels on a 996 C4s, they don't rub or have any fitment issues. I think most prefer 18's because 18's are typically lighter than 19's and provide a bit more comfortable ride. After i update my suspension and lower it a bit, i may experiment with 18's as I've had BBS RS-GT's on previous cars and think they would look great on my car. Only time will tell.
As for sport technos, I'm not a fan. I love a 5 star wheel, but in person, I just don't think they look great -- rather chunky looking....
Agree, too bad theyre not offered in WB fitment, which the OP would need unless they wanna run spacers (which Im not a fan of despite Porsche themselves offering).
Rotiform makes a lot of Porsche inspired wheel designs all custom built to order. This means you can do 18" or 19" with any of the following models:
FUC
NFN
STR
Wheels are really tough to buy for these cars IMO because the choices are limited in 5x130. The stock turbo twists aren't bad, I like the newer ones better and the 5 spokes posted above. I just feel like I don't want to shell out 1500+ for those. I've found ones I like from Rotiform and Fifteen52 but they either no longer make them, don't make them in the bolt pattern or don't make them wide enough. I might just powder coat my twists some sort of gold which I think would look good against ocean blue metallic.
but I see a 997. I thought OP has a 996 - WB ?,
There are more wheel options for that chassis.
Personally, I think your car would be really hot , if if was dropped another 1.25-1.5 "
but I still like it.

has a lot of knowledge on his chassis 996WB the OP could use. 19 Carrera'a, 18', etc. His opinion of the sport Techno is similar to mine, I like the look, but shape , not weight, make it look like a bigger wheel design. I total agree on the BBS's almost all of the designs are top of the list for wants. . Having owned a few different sets on past rides, they are hard to beat for best all around wheel, Weight, Design, strength, resale value. JMO
How are you using the car? If it is a daily driver, I'd stick with the 18s". A little more rubber gives a softer ride. The 19s" look cool, but the tires cost a little extra and the ride will be firmer. If it's a weekend driver go for the 19s".... but that is just my humble opinion.
I like them as well, I think someone use to make a set of repos as well. The real ones aren't cheap but honestly for as expensive as they are I would expect them to be lighter.
Agreed... they're heavy as hell. I had the weights written down somewhere but can't find it. I'd buy a set but I'm putting funds towards a suspension upgrade first.
I know wheel dynamics has Fuchs replicas like the ones picture above in 18 inch and 19. Don't know anything about the quality but they look nice in pictures
Sooo much selection for your car. In my opinion which doesn’t mean much, if cost is a factor go with something rotary form(flow form). Lighter and stronger than cast but way cheaper than forged.
since you live in Cali, GetYourWheels is probably not too far. Bought from them before, great to deal with and can get any finish you want.
last ones I bought were for my 997 C4S, Rohana RF2 in brushed matte antique bronze
Please stop showing your car with these wheels. They look perfect! I have a perfectly usable set of wheels on my car now that are soon to be on RL classifieds. Cant wait to join the Apex club.

Some questions:
- I came across a deal of used 996 18" turbo wheels with michelin sport tires (used too) on them for $1200. Is that a good deal?
- I'm thinking to keep those for daily drives and taking off my existing wheels and using them on track days. I'll upgrade the tires obviously. What is a good choice of track tires, Toyo Proxies? Also, are people using for track days same tire sizes as regular street tires? I'm asking because I used to have E36 M3 and it came stock with rear tires wider and people were installing all 4 tires same size for better handling.
Thanks.
That is a really decent price if the tires are still usable. Otherwise the price is eh. Make sure the wheels are what they claim too. The C4S 18 inch turbo twist and the actual Turbo turbo twist look identical and are the same sizes and widths. However the C4S wheel are solid and the Turbo car wheels are hollow (less weight). The hollow wheels bring a premium over the solid C4S wheels. I sold my stock C4S wheels a few months back for $700.00 and it only took a few days on this site. I have seen the hollow turbos go for $1000.00 but they were in decent shape- no major curb rash or scratches. for 1200.00 they better be clean and not bent. Also check the DOT dates to see how old the rubber is. If they are much older than 6-8 years they are questionable at best for street use and not suggested for track use.
Tire size for stock C4S and Turbo is a 225/40R18 and 295/30R18. Some people tend to put GT2 sizes on which are 235/40R18 and 315/30R18. Since i believe you have a C4S you will need to make sure your overall diameter is nearly the same as your all wheel drive. Tire brand is a personal choice. I am a Michelin guy. From what i have heard you won't need a dedicated "track" tire unless you got some skills behind the wheel.
Sport Classic IIs are the best looking I've seen on a 996. And they have the rare feature of being two-piece, those are real screws and the center piece comes off and wheel can be painted two colors. Don't know weight, will check next time changing tires.
Wish there was a sticky that had pictures of all wheels with names, backspacing, weight, and notes such as how it fits certain models. I barely upsized to 235/40/18s front and surprised at full lock they rub fender liners and may contact metal of upper center fenders under compression. Upsized rear 295/30/18 also may be contacting upper center fender.
Even with bigger tires they look wimpy, need to install even taller ones at least on rear. Spacers 5mm front and 17mm rear would improve looks but may make tire-body contact worse.
Current height scrapes bad on driveway and deeply gouged under front bumper. Had to remove rubber deflectors before front tire and build a ramp where driveway meets street, and uneven rolling of fenders at the top indicates front and rear tires may be making contact with body under compression. Don't see how this vehicle could be lowered without ripping off front bumper from ground contact and bending top of fenders from tire contact. Earlier 911s seemed to fill wheel wells so much better, so perhaps a better solution for 996s is taller tires.
Constructed wood ramp to raise vehicle and stop ground contact.
I sold a set last year that were in fantastic shape with brand new tires. I had them on Craigslist for three months at $1,200 with no luck and finally sold them when I lowered the price to $1,150 (without center caps).
I had Sport Classic IIs before I got the BBS RS-GT wheels. I took them apart to refinish the barrels.
