I've got a 996.2 2004 and Porsche changed the Engine back in 2009 at 31 000km.

Hi all, I've got a 996.2 2004 and Porsche changed the Engine back in 2009 at 31 000km. I've got the engine number but Porsche confirms it doesn't have the first coding digits of the number (for instance MA1.02) New engine number: 66402151 Is this normal to only put the engine number in the registry and not the model? My understanding is that the 997.2 generation engine was the replacement engine back in 2009 for cars still under warranty. How can I get a confirmation of the type of engine? thanks!

Okay this makes more sense. The dealer also gave me this #M96/03AT66560491. If this is the new engine number, is this a 996.2 generation engine? Thanks!

Porsche did not put a 997.2 engine in your car. It replaced the engine in 2009 with the last version of the m96 motor. They still offer this motor as a shortblock.
