Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you are in an area where they use salt, like me in Chicago, it could take several hours.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you are in Atlanta and your car is not corroded/rusted on the exhaust an hour or two might do it. If you are in an area where they use salt, like me in Chicago, it could take several hours. When I work on my car's exhaust just about every nut and bolt has to be drilled/cut and those that connect the pipe to the exhaust header are really tough to do as they are studs that are pressed into the flange on the cat. To drill them out of the cat flange you really have to take off the cat. As you are getting rid of the cat you might be able to get the cat off without removing the exhaust manifold. But on my car the nuts on the manifold side are often rusted to the point that you have to cut them off.

^^ What he said. Especially the very first time, there's no way to know what complications may arise. O2 sensors aren't cheap, and they're not indestructible - while you shouldn't expect any casualties, gird your loins just the same.
Have done this twice on my car and am about to do it on a friends - the work list is:
- Remove tail lights
- Remove bumper
- Remove L/R heat shields
- Remove impact bumper (removed tail lights to protect them from the removal of the bolts)
- Remove additional heat shield
- Remove air box + disconnect O2 plugs
- Undo clamps
- Undo manifold bolts to cats
- Remove old cats
- Remove O2 sensors and install on new x-pipe
- Install x-pipe
- Installation of removed parts
Easily a few hours labour in it IMO - first time I did it took me a day working super slowly.
Two of the hardest jobs are the impact bumper bolts (had to get out my rattle gun as they are torqued to 63ft-lb) and the O2 sensors - you need a 22mm crows foot to get them off. The heat does a number on them and they are on there nice and tight!
It's a DIY job if you're mechanically handy, or if you flew me to the USA i'd do it for you
haha
Hello, on a 996.1 it was about 4 hours labor for me. Very fair since many bolts were stuck/snapped. The shop showed me the condition and communicated along the way. Absolutely love the part and the performance, so well worth it.
Thanks for the info on labor. I've decided to subsidize a few other jobs with it (Water Pump, Belts) to save some labor on those as well.
Can't wait to get it on. I don't think I've ever heard the X51 Engine/Header combo w/ X-pipe 200 cells, and Dansk Supersound Muffler.
I'm thinking of throwing the Evolution Motorsports tune on as well to get a little extra HP and make sure the 200 cell cats won't trip any emissions codes.
+1 to Doug's point.
When my X Pipe was put on the issue wasnt with the new xpipe but instead getting the old exhaust separated after 15 years of not being touched. After about 30 minutes with a rubber mallet it was a breeze
