This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'clearest i could find' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'clearest i could find' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, ive got a leak that is coming from the upper rear passenger side of my engine its a 2001, everything in the area looks pretty splattered and Im starting to get 1-3 drop on the ground when Im parked. I am attaching a picture of the area from a boxster thats out of the car because it was the clearest I could find. Some culprits just thinking out loud: PCV valve- possibly loose or maybe the vent is stuck open (but that seems like too much oil) Camshaft Position Sensor - leak/loose i dont think its the cam plug; nor do I think its the cam solenoid thats around the corner of the engine. Those two are reported as far more likely culprits by most people. Anyone dealt with leaks in this area? Im just looking for any insight so that I can focus on the most likely culprit as it hasnt been very clear to me yet where the oil is coming from. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Is it oil, power steering fluid or coolant leaking?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry; shoulda been clearer. It is oil.

POST 4Original post

Maybe your oil pressure sensor is loose? Show us the oil weeping on the engine if you can.

+1. Happened to me. But I had occasional erratic oil pressure at the gauge while running though so it was a bit more obvious than just the leak.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Further investigation suggests to me that the scavenge pump is the culprit for the recent dripping and that the general haze of oil higher up maybe unrelated. or otherwise put; it might be a couple of things leaking.
