This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone has any experience doing this? I bought a kit to DIY based on a couple of videos that I watch but any help is always appreciated. Thanks

POST 2Original post

I can't help you on the install, but my indy did this and it works great. I was the first customer he did the replace for and he said he would start offering it to others. In the end he said he kinda had fun learning/doing the job.

POST 3Original post

I did this on the my son's boxster HVAC controller, same as 996....took about 15 minutes....piece of cake if you follow the directions.

POST 4Original post

Somewhere here I posted a thread on this topic, with pix.

POST 5Original post

If you are going to do this I recommend that you get the LCD from these guys. https://shop.914rubber.com/996-986-L...-996986LCD.htm There product matches the original images, lettering etc., some of the other sources don't really match the OEM, and they provide detailed instructions. I did mine a year of two ago and you can't tell the difference from the factory LCD.

POST 6Original post

I just did this on my Turbo . VERY easy! get it from 914 rubber like Dharm says its perfect!

POST 7Original post

Yep. The 914 Rubber kit is the one to get! The instructions are easy to follow. ( I should know, I wrote them!) You can find them on the 914 Rubber site. https://900designs.zoeysite.com/996-...eplacement-kit or https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?...EeNkJS2XUTyAT0 (FYI, I have no actual affiliation with 914 Rubber. I did the instructions/photos in exchange for a discounted kit a few years ago)

POST 8Original post

I did the lcd display replace in February I think. Very easy. Go slow!!, be meticulous, take it out and into a room with a table. I laid out a flat towel and followed the directions, very important! Takes about an hour, start to finish. It worked first time for me and I’m 78. Then on to other projects. After that one I did passenger door regulator,( really took my time on that one), worked great, and the headlight switch, that one turned out to be relatively easy also. Good luck.
