Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So time to get creative. How to get in the car. Key fob is working but wont unlock car in sleep mode. Turn key in the door and it doesn't do anything. Pulled on the emergency fronk release and it doesn't do anything. The only thing I have going for me is that i dont need access right away and I have access to the rear trunk since the engine isn't in there. Any ideas?
Agree, the key is manual...but the car also needs power to work the lock/unlock microswitches in the door latch mechanism. If you unlock the car with the key and pull on the door handle, does the window dip like it is supposed to do? If not, battery is dead and you need to get 12V on the engine bay jumper points.
I don't actually know what voodoo that door latch mechanism needs in order to work. It makes sense that the manual key physically turns the key cylinder and should unlock the door. But weird things happen if the car has no power. I'm awaiting a new drivers door latch mechanism because I'm getting stuck..unlock the car with key, pull handle, window drops, door won't open. Pull handle repeatedly, nothing. Lock it back up, then unlock and try again. Same thing. After several attempts, the door will open. But it is getting more and more frequent. I really am looking forward to the replacement and then diving into the old latch to see how it works.
Once I get the new latch mechanism, here is what I will do. Since I have to disconnect the battery for door card removal, I will do that and then try the lock/unlock manually with the key and see if it works with no power. I'll update.
The car has enough power to honk the horn and power the flashing light on the dash. I'll have to test what the voltage is. When using the key the door/lock doesn't do anything.
Picking up heads and case halves in a bit so I will stick the rear cables on a charger. See if that works.
You can boost it through the +12 line that goes into the starter. It's a direct line between the battery and the starter so that might wake up the car. Other option is a brick.
So battery has a charge, I was almost thinking that if I drain the battery, then recharge it it will get it out of sleep mode. Any adverse affects for draining a battery?
All you have to do is pull the negative battery lead for 5 or 10 mins and kill all power to the car to fully reset the ECU - including sleep mode.
Yes, most batteries should not be fully discharged.
Update - expecting new door latch mechanism tomorrow. I began getting into the door. After disconnecting the battery I tried the lock/unlock with the key. Nothing happens. The car will not lock or unlock with the key. As I said earlier, I don't know what kind of voodoo works that latch mechanism, but apparently it needs power to lock and unlock.
I'd have to dig through the owner's manual, but I believe the car goes into a sleep mode when it sits for a period of time. You need to wake it up with the right sequence so the remote will work again. Any chance this is all that is happening?
I know it has been said but have u tried putting jumper cables on the starter wire and the ground lug in the engine bay to give your car power? I get that your mechanical mechanism has failed so u have to get power to the system or call a locksmith.
I remember when I had my engine out and no power the door would unlock but the window wouldn't drop so you have to carefully open the door , I used to press the window in to drop it out of the rubber to allow the door to open .
The door lock is mechanical and doesnt need power to operate. If its not unlocking, the mechanical component the links the cylinder to the latch is broken or missing (been there done that).
If you can disconnect and reconnect the battery, the car will wake from sleep mode and reactivate the remote receiver.
