I use the switched lead to drive a relay for +12v from the battery to the subwoofer and inverter I have mounted under the rear shelf.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

First of all thanks for all the help to date sorting things out with the new to us car. Its a 2003 C2 cabriolet. This kick panel was loose and after removing it found this connector from the passenger side. Any idea what it goes to? All the units (radio & AC) seem to work fine. The multi CD cartridge thing I have not tried to use yet so not sure if its status. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

It is for a phone...the really old style phone.

POST 3Original post

...and useful for adding accessories. There is switched and unswitched power there,

POST 4Original post

Becker Autosound sells a pigtail if you don't want to hack up the wiring. It is part # 5001.524. I bought it through their Ebay store here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-AUX...gAAOSw7W5XNkgg

...you're a true 996 fanboy if you knew it was the phone connector before opening the thread.

POST 6Original post

The orange thing below it is the airbag control module. Which is a disappointment if you are deep into the GT3 console delete and want to keep going. I use the switched lead to drive a relay for +12v from the battery to the subwoofer and inverter I have mounted under the rear shelf.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 15997298

Was thinking of doing the delete. So the airbag control module has to be removed to delete the console? Do you relocate it or just go without airbags?

POST 9Original post

No need to remove or move it. The GT3 trim piece fits over top of the control module.

POST 10Original post

^ As he said, it definitely stays put unless you're planning to delete SRS. The lower console delete ("GT3 console") is a fantastic mod for tall/long-legged drivers.

POST 11Original post

oh this is cool. do all C2 have these standard?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feedback all. Thanks for the link! I think I will use one of the power sources for a used home link unit off eBay. Thanks!

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 15997783

It is also a great mod for short fat drivers like me that don't like the stupid center stack.

POST 14Original post

Has anyone ever relocated the heated seat buttons to the horseshoe to do the delete?

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 15998253

What can you recommend for the tall fat guys? Other than diet...

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 15999991

I relocated mine to "unplug the switches and put them in a box". I contemplated running them to the horseshoe, but didn't bother. I don't envision a time when I'd need heated seats (I drive the land cruiser in that weather).

POST 17Original post

Quotes source posts: 15999995, 15997840

Well, there's exercise. Or so I've been told. I believe every 996 has it. So did my 986. It's incredibly useful...but be sure to check the fuse panel so you don't overload it.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 16000253

Yeah, I've heard this too.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 15999991

I did in my old 996. You just need to do a little rerouting of the wire harness. Only takes a few minutes.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 15997296

I'm in the club! The heated seat switches can easily be rerouted to the horseshoe so long you have unused blanks there. OR can be rerouted to the rear center console window switch blanks if you do not have a cab. My gal uses the seat heat all year ( she has hot buns) , me not so much.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Installed this homelink device today I bought off eBay. It was out of a Cadillac Deville. I used the cable suggested by SoCal911t (thanks again). Works great and looks at home.
