Speaking from experience, I'd use the winter downtime to drop the oil sump cover and check for debris.

I love the wheels too and being a detailer on the side, I know how difficult cleaning around that hardware can be so anything to save some effort is worth it.

Overall the interior is in great shape, the side bolsters on the seats are hanging in there pretty well and the carpets are in decent shape, although the white lettering has come off so I might see about redoing or replacing those.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Everyone!
Just picked up my first 911 and can't wait to really start driving it, unfortunately that might have to wait a few months with winter rolling into Colorado but hopefully I can sneak out for a drive once in a while.
Normally I buy projects so I'm excited to have a car that has itself together for once, IMS, RMS, and new clutch kit all installed at 75k and full 90k service just done. Will need new tires for this summer and the wheels could be refurbished but that's about it. On that note, anyone have recommendations for where to have wheels refurbished in Colorado Springs or Denver?
Here are the details on the car:
2000, C2, 6 speed, 90k miles, factory aerokit, 2 piece 18" Sport Classic wheels, PSM, 3 spoke wheel, IPD Competition intake plenum, GT3 Throttle body, Gundo exhaust mod.
Nice 996! Looks like you have LED rear lights as well. How do you think they look on the car? A night shot? Looking into those for my 2k 996 C2 also in silver.
Beautiful car and congrats....i am partial to aeros...nice find. And i also have LEDs on my yellow aero but smoked....looks great at night....don't have pics though.
Appreciate it!
Thank you!
Silver is the fastest color, everybody knows that.
Enjoying it is very much the plan, autocross, track days, HPDE, etc. Can't wait to get it on the track!
Welcome to Team 996! I joined in September 2018.
Speaking from experience, I'd use the winter downtime to drop the oil sump cover and check for debris. Also pull the oil filter and cut it open and inspect. I'd also add a magnetic drain plug if it doesn't already have one.
If you were in Atlanta, I'd be able to tell you where to get your wheels fixed. Just had 2 of mine done this week. If you have friends in the car business, ask them where they take their wheels.
Much appreciated! Here are a few low quality shots from after I gave it a quick interior detail. It's amazing to me how grimy and nasty steering wheels get, this one was all gunked up but cleaned up really well after going over it with light brush and some all purpose cleaner. Overall the interior is in great shape, the side bolsters on the seats are hanging in there pretty well and the carpets are in decent shape, although the white lettering has come off so I might see about redoing or replacing those.
The drive home after picking up the car made me really want to start updating the sound system in the car since I'll do plenty of highway driving in this thing. I've dug around a little bit and figure new speakers in the dash and doors would be a good place to start and then look at the head unit after that.
Shooter_Mcgavin,
I just Porsche purchased this 2001 11/13/2018. And to maybe answer your question about where to have the wheels refurbished I had new tires put on and all four rims refurbished by my dealer who sends them out. They kept my car safe inside as it takes about a week or so. I also had a wheel alignment service. No sense in putting new tires on only to burn them up with poor alignment! It wasn't that much per wheel. Some where in the two dollars per wheel. And the look great and they know how to mount and balance them too! Even the center cap gets placed correctly!
Enjoy you're new ride! I'd say that you have moved on from project cars!
Welcome! I sent you a pm but in case you don't get it, check out Alloy Wheel Repair Pro in Springs. They helped me with a chrome peel issue on my 996 and they might be able to help you refurbish your wheels.
Good looking car! Congratulations, hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it! I have the same wheels. I love the way they look, but each wheel takes about 20 minutes to clean, so if you are refurbishing I'd consider a ceramic coating to make life a little easier once they are "back to life".
Enjoy!
You beat me by 1 day on this, I looked at it for 6 months and went in with the cash and said you bought it.
I sulked for a week , ended up finding a 03 996 in Laguna beach ,
I guess we both ended up with great cars, How do you like your Gundo?
Thats wild I was the same with this car, saw it, forgot about, thought it was sold then saw it pop back up again. I know he said there was some interest in it but you never know whether thats a tactic or for real so Im glad I made the deal when I did! Are you happy with ending up in a 996.2 instead of the .1?
I honestly love the Gundo, it sounds great when you put the hammer down but it isnt obnoxiously loud, just enough to put a huge smile on my face.
Thank you!!
Definitely a good idea with the ceramic coat, should be able to have that done at the same time they get refinished. I love the wheels too and being a detailer on the side, I know how difficult cleaning around that hardware can be so anything to save some effort is worth it.
Love the white on yours, great color on these cars. I just missed out on a White over black C4S before grabbing this one.
I havent fully moved on from project cars, I still daily drive a B5 S4 which is always a project but I love it! Luckily Ive got a good tech for anything I cant fix myself.
I'm sure the topic of tires has been beaten to death and I've done some searching through the forums but I'm curious if anyone has driven on the Falken Azenis RT615K+? I'm looking for a tire that can hold up to plenty of autocross and a few track days without getting a set of dedicated wheels and tires. They've got good reviews and are priced right so I'm leaning towards them for the summer.
