Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi, there seems to be a lot of issues with the front tuning fork arm / control arm link / thrust arm or whatever you want to call it. Would just replce the bushings work? https://www.bbiautosport.com/products-1/front-rear-porsche-996997-adjustable-thrust-arm-bushing-kit ihttps://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/RENS05048P.htm?pn=REN-S-05048P&catalog_description=Rennline%20HD%20Thrust%20Arm%20Bushing%20%28e ach%29&SVSVSI=896 instead of the arm: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/99634104306.htm?pn=996-341-043-06-M155&catalog_description=Control%20Arm%20Link%20%20%20%20%28Front%20Left %20Lower%2C%20Front%20Right%20Lower%2C%20Left%20or%20Right%20Rear%20Lowe r%29%20%20&SVSVSI=896 Reason would be to replace with a high quality bushing, actuall arm is probably gine.

POST 2Original post

The original bushing is actually a spherical bearing that moves freely and does not put torque on the arm in any position. Replacing this with rubber or poly will affect the torque on the arm as it articulates which can't be a good thing. Quite honestly these are not that hard to replace and the original arms (or aftermarket replacements Meyle, Delphi, etc) are not that expensive.

that is a good point, I will either get a a stockish arm or an aftermarket. https://www.bbiautosport.com/products-1/bbi-porsche-996-997-frontrear-adjustable-thrust-arm-kit about twice the price of the Mahle.

2nd. Putting an elastomer bushing in this place changes the effective spring rate of the car, and puts different loads on things than the original spherical bearing. Not necessarily right or wrong, but not something to do without considering all the pros and cons first. The arms are cheap and can be changed quite simply. You'll need an alignment afterwards though, since a minor change in length of this arm significantly affects the toe setting.
