Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After searching the forum, I didn't find a topic that fits this. I installed LED lamps in my frunk, hood and interior doors. Today while detailing I felt the heat from the heat sink drivers on the lamps were very hot. I like to leave all open to air out but am concerned about the heat and power draw.
Any of you guys have a problem with the LED's?
I installed LEDs all the way around and didn't like them and went back to standard bulbs. I didn't like the white light it wasn't for me.
That said they didn't have any heat problems. What kind of bulbs are they?
I replaced my interior bulbs with LEDs a couple of years ago but haven't noticed any extra heat. Now I'm curious and will have to check. I did put the original bulbs back in the doors because I thought the LEDs weren't bright enough. I kept them in the frunk, overhead, hood, and license plate.
All the bright ones have LED driver circuits that at operating near max levels so they will get warm/hot. It's fine and nothing to worry about. The one's on my BMW have been like this for about 5 years now without any issue.
Either way, these are a lot cooler still compared to the incandescents.
I got really tired of burning my head looking in the trunk/frunk all the time and also was bothered with the door lights staying on so long, especially with our weaker batteries that always dies out. This was one car I couldn't wait to do the interior LED upgrade to.
If you get the cheaper ones, the lighting will be higher kelvin rating and look more blueish. The better ones have lower kelvin rating and looks more white.
I tested them in my doors and would agree they dont give off much light. I could aslo see the SMDs in the door too. Didnt like that.
Also didnt test them in the overhead as I couldnt find the 42mm size so I went back to regular bulbs all round.
Was good that they stilled had the dimming effect though.
