Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Does anyone have pricing (parts + Installation) on a 345 hp upgrade using the Porsche kit?
Leading evidence: 'Use porsche kit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use porsche kit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at the difference bewteen an '02 and '05 "S" purchase. Does anyone have pricing (parts + Installation) on a 345 hp upgrade using the Porsche kit?
Thanks
I know what you're thinking. Thought about it, too. One thing you can't upgrade to the 997S standards is the improved suspension and chassis rigidity. And even the power kit fall short of the HP. Not quite sure it's worth it.
I'm buying a cab so chassis rigidity is kind of moot. I think the 996 handles well enough for my needs. My thought is that if I wait 2 years the comparison between an '02 cab and a 997 S cab price-wise should be:
'02 - est price $48k + $17k for power kit plus exhaust upgrade = $65k
'05 - est price $85k
Do you guys feel the 3 year newer 997 S is worth the extra bones?
That's a loaded question. There are so many reasons to go one way versus the other aside from simple math of cost to performance. There's warranty, new vs used, resale value, bling-bling factor, upgraded car vs old tech, etc, etc, etc.
Here's a contradiction for you: " I think the 996 handles well enough for my needs" vs " '02 - est price $48k + $17k for power kit plus exhaust upgrade = $65k".
Despite your disclaimer, I think the 996 performance is NOT well enough for you. That's why you want the X51. Conversely, $85K is a lot of moolah.
There's a lot to look into to make that decision. If it were me, if I can swing it, I'd rather go for the newest and most evolved 911 I can afford. When the time comes, I'll sell my barely modified C4S for a 998 or a 997 GT3. Provided I can swing the cash, of course.
I live in Houston, the land of flat, boring straight roads so I tend to seperate handling from performance (stright-line speed). For me, it turns out the $20k difference is right in the middle. If there was a $10k difference, 997 S easy. $30k?.....996 easy. Would have to suffer through alot of depreciation with a 997.
The other factor is in two years, the 996 tt cab should be going for about $95k, $10k more than the 997 S. There is where the toughest decision of all rests
I'd get SC instead if you want drop dead performance. Remember your mods will never pay off when selling so you'll be lucky to get 1/2 the money you put into mods.
DJ,
Good suggestion and definately the cheapest per hp, but I rather avoid the added strain a SC creates and since the power pack is a Porsche product I feel some of the money could be passed along in the price.
