Can I use the Mercedes oil filter Mann 718/5x in my 3.4 996? I have two of these filters in my garage and they seem very similar to the Mann 719/5x filter. I�m In the middle of changing the oil and I just realized they weren�t exactly the same. Let me know. Thanks

I wouldn't. Oil filters are something I don't mess with. If it doesnt flow the same or fits slightly different the results will be catastrophic. Even the proper filter can get twisted inside the housing and restrict flow if not installed right.

i think the 719 fits, not sure what the difference is between the two. but agree w/ Cosmo, as cheap as filters are I'd only run to spec.
