Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
from what i can tell, the reason for using the HD shocks is that the sport shocks are too soft and can tend to make the car easy to bottom, whereas the HD shocks match well with the shorter springs so the car handles more like a race car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
I'm having H&R springs installed that lower the car about an 1". I was wondering which shock to install, the Bilstein Heavy duty or the Bilstein Sport shock? I use my car only for street use.
Anyone else have Bilsteins installed? How do they perform?
Thanks for the help.
I have asked this question to Bilstein USA. A technician on the phone told me the shocks have the same valving but the sports are 15 mm shorter. I guess you should use the sports.
bilstein says one thing, but anybody that i've talked to that put H&R's on their car always gets the HD units. from what i can tell, the reason for using the HD shocks is that the sport shocks are too soft and can tend to make the car easy to bottom, whereas the HD shocks match well with the shorter springs so the car handles more like a race car. i have H&R springs on my car, but i didn't put on different shocks right away because i'm a glutton for punishment and i just HAD to see what it's like to have the stock shocks and shorter springs.
i knew it wouldn't work quite right, but i didn't mind paying the labor a second time to have the shocks installed. well, having driven the car with the shorter springs and the softer than HD (same as sport valving) bilstein shocks, i'm definitely going to get the HD shocks in a couple of thousand miles when mine need to be replaced. with the shorter springs, you need a stiffer shock, and the sport shocks are the same stiffness and porsche's OEM shocks.
let me know what you decide to do!
Thanks for the replies guys. The tech guys at Performance Products also suggested the HD Bilsteins. Unfortunately, the shocks are on back order so I'll have to wait for installation. I'll let you know how the car performs after the install of the springs and shocks.
