My salesman also started up a C4S with PSE installed for a captive audience.

B&B Triflo: poor quality/durability, exhaust was replaced under B&B warrentee due to cracking (car was a daily driver).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

PCA Milwaukee region hosted a concours event yesterday at a local dealership - indoors. What a great day! Lots of beautiful older 911's. I'd post some pictures of them, but they didn't come out so well inside. I only entered to see how the Rejexed car looked under those harsh flourescents. Pretty nice!
My salesman also started up a C4S with PSE installed for a captive audience. I'm in love! He's getting me a price today. Any reason for choosing a PSE unit instead of Fabspeed or GHL?
David
I guess you know that this question has been asked so many times on rennlist and all the other porker forums.
Everytime the guys with PSE's vent their biased opinion and the guys with the Fabspeed vent their biased opinion, and so it goes on.
I bet you couldn't figure what my bias is
I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the extra cost and electronic complexity to do the PSE vs. what I think is just a simple bolt on for the Fabspeed. I don't think my stock exhaust has an electronic component now -- does it? It's an '03.
Thanks,
David
I have had B&B Triflo on my former 968, Fabspeed on my past 993, and presently have PSE on my 996 so I don't feel that my opinion favors a particular brand.
B&B Triflo: poor quality/durability, exhaust was replaced under B&B warrentee due to cracking (car was a daily driver). I also found that the B&B Car was too loud for my taste.
Fabspeed: Great quality and looks... mufflers have a mirror like finish and the oval tips also looks superb. However, I found that the Fabspeed was too loud for my taste. Also had the BMC air filter with Fabspeed airbox frame, and it seemed like the 993 experienced HP gains of +10 to 15 HP.
PSE: Came installed as a factory option on my 996 and love it! It has a mildly aggressive sound which is perferct for me. I also like the fact that it's Porsche OEM and not after-market. I recently installed the "double-circle" OEM Porsche tips and I'm very pleased!
David,
You don't have to have the electronics installed. Its ALOT more money cause they have to route the wiring, etc. If you like the sound and think you always will, ditch the switch, and save some $$$$.
Nice ride, never seen a spoiler lip like that before....
The PSE "retails" for about $2,400. But you can get them for MUCH less - Brandywine Porsche was selling them for about $1,600. Don't waste your time (and money) getting the electronics installed. Just have the mufflers installed - and it is a very easy swap. I took mine to a local Midas shop. $75.00 and 1 1/2 hours and they were on.
Thanks NYC and DaveMo,
After searching previous posts, I finally figured out what was going on with the 'electronics'.
And I would definetely skip the switch, as I'd rather not have the interior pulled apart. The louder sound of the PSE 'on' is fine with me.
I wonder if I could install it myself. Looking under there it seems pretty straightforward. Other posts said there are installation instructions somewhere on this board, but of course I can't find them. Can anyone give me the path?
Thanks for the feedback on the spoiler. I took alot of heat for it since it isn't a Porsche part. But I like the relative subtlety of it.
Thanks for the insight!
David
