I've had my car for just over 1 yr (purchased end of Mar/beginning of April 03) and have just over 10K miles on the car. I'd like to do the 15K service now, i.e. oil, inspection, etc. The local dealer in town wants $380 for the 15K service. I found another local import shop that will do it for $200. I haven't inquired yet but I don't think this local shop is 'Porsche Certified' and quite honestly I don't even know if there is such a thing other than the dealerships. What does everyone think? Should I bring it to the Porsche dealer and drop the $380 or bring it to the local import shop for $200. Any input would be greatly appreciated. BTW, my car is currently in repair for RMS and an oil separator leak. And they gave me a Ford Focus to drive

I'd just bite the bullet and go through the dealership for all scheduled service/maintenance. The dealer gave you a Ford as a loaner? I got a Boxster with 70 miles on the clock when mine went in for an annual service last month.

Don't do either! Get to know your car, and do the 15K yourself. All the 15K is change the oil, filter, and pollen filter. It is about $75 worth of parts and oil, and it takes about a half an hour. As long as the CEL is off, then there is nothing of value that the dealer adds. And don't be wussed by the "you need to pay a dealer to change the oil because of the "warranty". Just keep your receipts, and you are fine. With the money you save you can have a nice dinner instead. Go to the dealer. If they find something wrong during the inspection, it gets fixed under warranty at the same time. Dealer service stamps also helps when you resell.
