So far I have replaced the D8 fuse, pulled the radio, checked the 10A fuse on it (it was fine), put a multimeter to the yellow plug, black wire and I think one adjacent to it and got 11.48 volts.

I also installed the new URO switch. Happy to say that fixed my sticky switch.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This morning when I got in to leave for work, there was no power to the CDR23 head unit. Sometimes it will just say Porsche and I have to get out use the remote fob to lock, then unlock the car for it to operate properly. Unfortunately, my key fob is not working (needs new PCB) so I tried manually locking and unlocking with the key in the door. That did nothing. Next I checked the fuses - mainly B2, D9, and E1. B2 and E1 each have 15A fuse installed (which were fine), but they should have 7.5A. Aside from the overrated fuses, I'm not sure what to do. When I get home tonight, I'll pull the radio and check for power. Any other tips? Here's a quick picture of the fuse box (which has a couple of 40As as well - apparently I was looking at .1 fuse box - the 40A are correct) :
Also, my ignition tumbler has been getting "sticky" when turning. No idea if that is a contributing factor. This a MOST Bose system, so naturally it's the least upgradable and probably hardest to diagnose.
I'm stopping at Advanced Auto on the way home to pick up fuses and will replace the overrated ones. I know that won't fix the radio, but I'm hoping there's not a different, bigger issue hiding by the fact that there are two 40A in there...
So the fuses where actually fine, aside for D8 which should be 7.5A. I was looking at .1 fuse panel hence my confusion. Anyway, if there's anyone reading this that can help me troubleshoot my issue, I'd really appreciate it. So far I have replaced the D8 fuse, pulled the radio, checked the 10A fuse on it (it was fine), put a multimeter to the yellow plug, black wire and I think one adjacent to it and got 11.48 volts. I assume that means the power to the radio is good since it can be switched on when the car is off. Where do I go from here? How do I check the Bose amp? I'm pretty lost when it comes to electrical so I'm pleading for help. Thanks.
It sounds similar to what my old Boxster had every few months. Never did research what the underlying cause was as it didn’t happen that often. Wonder if it’s a head unit issue.
I have seen posts noting that the ignition switch may be the cause. It is a good place to start based on the age of the car, especially if it has not been replaced in the near past
THIS!
I have experienced several weird issues with bad ignition switches.
Years ago, first spring drive, headlights, HVAC controls, radio were all doing strange things including flashing lights, going on and off etc.
Ordered a URO switch from Amazon. Problem solved. Then discovered that I could get the OEM at Audi and replaced it again a few days later. Fast forward, 4 years later (3000 miles). I have a no start condition, with an air bag light. Can't be the ignition switch?
I removed the audi switch, replaced it with the URO switch known to be working 4 years earlier. Still no start. Had the car towed to the indy. Told him I did not think it was the ignition switch. He chased it for half day. Decided not to listen to me. Changed the switch to the OEM. Problem solved.
Those ignition switches are problematic. That is the least expensive route to go down, especially if it is already stiff. The URO switch is $20. The Audi is $60.
Had time to spend on the issue today and discovered my battery died. After my VW donated it's battery to open my frunk, I exchanged the old battery for a new one. I also installed the new URO switch. Happy to say that fixed my sticky switch. As for the radio - now there is some sign of life. The power button light flashes when the key is on, but car not started. It didn't do that before. Now I need to research troubleshooting MOST. Should be fun. If anyone has any pointers or links to threads it would be much appreciated!
I hooked up my Foxwell NT520 Pro scanner and read a couple error codes. One is 54 - Radio receiver faulty, the other is 9114 PCM control module. Google search tells me this can be an issue with MOST. IDK, I guess my next step is trying to replace either the radio or amp. Currently, eBay has CDR23s listed for less than the Bose amp so maybe I'll go that route...
I received the replacement CDR23. I went to take out the old one and the new battery is completely dead. I suspected the old CDR23 was draining power as it was warm last time I went to pull it, but forgot to disconnect it. Lesson learned. Now I have to completely charge my new dead battery, but first have to charge the VW battery to open the frunk as that one is dead too. SMH.
Lets hope the new CDR23 will solve the problem. Do a parasitic drain test. Check this video. Be sure to turn off all cabin lights, dont start the engine, and place the postiive lead on your meter to the correct amperage:

I finally was able to charge the new battery and plug in the replacement CDR23... and it worked! Sort of... everything lit up and it's in "Protect" mode which I see as a good sign. Also had red lights shinning from the fiber port. Now I just need to have it "married" to my car. I double checked and plugged in the old one which acted the way it did previously by just blinking the power button and no red fiber lights. I unplugged that and left the replacement out just to see if the battery holds. So far so good.
I assume that's for PIWIS? In any event, I texted my indie and he lent out his out but should have it back end of week. So that's the route I plan to take. I'm also investigating the PIWIS on the cheap as outlined in the other thread. Thanks.
