Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just noticed tonight in my garage, there is an oil leak right underneath center of the rear end. I don't have time to take it in to check it out. Is it bad to keep driving... It doesn't seem to be leaking much, it may even have stopped. I was driving pretty hard yesterday and that is the only time I can think of. Any thought!!!! Thanks

POST 2Original post

I assume that you are under warranty. It sounds like you have just joined the RMS club - Rear Main Seal. It's a known problem with the 996 and 986 engines. Take it in to get it fixed. If it is the RMS, have them check your clutch since they have to pull the tranny to fix the RMS. If you need a new clutch, it's mostly just parts as they already have the labor as part of the RMS fix covered.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks... I will have it checked out ASAP

POST 4Original post

Yep: Welcome to the RMS club. Good news is that a good service tech can have it replaced in half a day. Read this thread on RMS failures
