Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hope you experts in here can help me with a wheel fitment question: I have a 996.1 Carrera 2, and I wonder if I can I use wheels with these specs:
8.5X18 ET 59 - 225/40-18

It is a nice set for sale in my area, but I am not shure how it will be on my car.
I also have a set of 18" turbo twist rims that needs to be painted, shall I stick to the standard silver or should I go for gun metal or another color? What do you guys think?
Here is a pic of my car wit the standard 17" wheels:
Yeah, it comes down to whether you want a 996 that truly handles well or not.
Best advice I can give is to take your time with spending money on the pretty stuff. Spend the money on bullet proofing the engine first. I would refresh the 2nd set of turbo twist wheels. Best case you like them. Worst case is you can sell them for top dollar and use the cash for something else.
Little bit off standard fitment. Probably need a spacer in the front. The back could be tight.
Lots of guys have tried lots of fits in different threads. You can see what they did. Best thing would be to bolt them on and take a look.
Painting the twists is your call. silver is conventional. Probably easier to sell. Dark is cool, looks good in real life but doesn't photograph well in some cases.
Well, I'm running front 18x8 _225/40 et 57 with15mm spacers & 18x10_285/30 et 58 with 10mm spacers. Stock oem standard suspension ride height. No rubs anywhere and seems to handle mostly neutral/very well with the tw 200 tires. Handles Auto x very well...
Seems most all 225/40_18" tires are still in spec for 7.5" to 9" wheels, So don't really see that as being a problem at all. Many have gone to 235 or even 245 tires on the 8" rims with no problem.
Unless you're on the track drifting into the apex of same corner with each tire /wheel option to compare speeds/handling, really doubt on the street at street speeds most of us could 'feel any difference from 8 to 8.5" rims.
You could probably run 15mm spacers on front and 5mm on back no problem with that above set up you're contemplating buying...
This is mine...

I have Porsche Sport Techno wheels (which became available in 2002) size 8x18 50mm offset with 225/40x18 on the fronts and 11x18 63mm offset with 295/30x18 on the rear. Standard height, narrow body 2001 coupe with no issues or rubbing.
