Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Amigo's I was reading on a Euro forum that the Targa has the most limited numbers in production regarding the 996 platform - 128 per year which is less than the GT2/3 - can you guys confirm this ? Or was I reading something incorrect ?

POST 2Original post

That was my understanding when I was looking -- very low numbers -- I really like the Targa -- In fact I love it. I love the large large glass area -- the fact that the rear window opens is fantastic. It allows for more every day use - easy to load and unload. When I went looking for a C2 - I was always looking to see if there was a targa around My left eye was never married to my turbo when a Targa was around. The problem -- THE PRICE! -- and even with the low numbers the resale is so bad -- I was shocked!

POST 3Original post

I thought I saw the Porsche production numbers somewhere (probably for a year or two past) and I have in mind that Targa production was around 500/yr (maybe that was for USA). Anyone know where past year's model breakdowns and #'s can be found? I kind of like the rarity of the Targa these days, and I like the Targa top as I am tired of a rag top after 3 years with the Boxster S but like a little more open feeling. I'm mystified why the demand for Targa's is apparently very small (maybe the average guy would rather have a Cab for about the same price?). I wonder if 996 will be the last of the Targas. Can't imagine Porsche would make a 997 version with the low numbers.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
