Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Please excuse this friendly intrusion. I monitor this board as a possible future Porsche 996 owner. I currently own a 2000 C5 and am in the process of trying to fit new Pilot Sports to replace the ones I am using. I called Tire Rack today and they said that although the tires were listed in stock on the web site, the fronts were generic Pilot Sports and the rears they had were Mercedes specifc or Ferrari specific and mixing them was not a good idea. The salesman tried to sell me some Goodyears and I ended up buying nothing. Any knowledgable feedback would be much appreciated. Steve

POST 2Original post

Why not just stick with the OEM Goodyear F1 Supercar? They are far better than the old Pilot Sport.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually, the OEM tires on my car were the infamous Goodyear runflats. I've had good luck with the Pilot Sports. I believe you are referring to the OEM tires for the Z06. An interesting bit of trivia is that those particular tires have a metal belt which interferes with the operation of the tire pressure sensors on the standard Vette. I heard back from Tire Rack, and the Ferrari spec tires are nearly identical to the generic Pilot Sports, so that's the way I'll go. Steve
