Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you find a Porsche dealer who is willing to broker the transaction for you and you should be able to get a 2 year 100,000 mile warranty for $1500 plus the inspection which would run about $500.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, I need to make a decision fast for a number of reasons...
How does this sound to you?
Pristine condition, Fully Loaded 1999 (August) 996 C4, 15,500 miles, Zenith Blue, Full Leather - Black, 6 Speed, 18 Wheels, Sports Suspension, Always Garaged, Full Porsche Service History
Asking 45k, private seller, but no warrantee, no xenon and no rear wiper.
It is the cleanest 996 I have seen so far. Claims he
can get 45k credit as trade in (if you include the tax credit).
My main concern is the lack of warrantee.
Thanks. Jan
if the ppi is satisfactory it sounds like a good deal but you may be able to pick up a 2002 for another 10K, why not go for the new upgrades and the factory warranty if that is what you are concerned with. a 99 may have some expensive issues even with such low miles.
I just bought my '99 996, so I know that what you're saying is a good deal indeed. You can get an aftermarket warranty that will be almost as comprehensive as Porsche's for about $4000 for 36-48 months. If it's got the full service history, it really is a good find based on the prices I was looking at.

I did this and am happy I did.
$500 for the PPI!!!!!!! that's outrageous! i just got one done for $99. the dealer quoted me $189.95, but when i went to pick up the car it was only $99. another dealer also quoted me about $200 for the PPI.
for $99 bucks he "looked" at it.......and ran a diagnostic check on the computer. That having been said........as long as the "look" was on a lift and there were no bent parts or oil leaks.........that is about all the PPI a 996 needs.
The computer diag is most important as it will tell you how many over rev events have been recorded....both kinds, up and down. ANY overrevs induced by a downshift is reason to walk away from the car.
