I'm changing the oil in my 1999 996 this morning and need to know exactly how much oil should be put back in. Loren's site says 8.75 L for 2002 or after, but what about the 1999? Thank for the help!

I let my 2000 C4 drain for a whole week. (Had the wrong filter, couldn't get to it right away). I was very surprised at how much more oil drained out durnig that time. To refill the crank case to the full mark on the stick and the electronic level indicator I used 10 quarts of oil. Usually, with a filter change and a 1 hour drain cycle, I use the better part of 9 quarts.

The oil change quantity is approx. 8.75 liters (8.25 liters for MY02 and newer 3.6 liter engines) after a draining time of approx. 20 minutes. DO NOT overfill!

Thanks guys -- I'll put in 8.75L if I can ever get the car back in working shape! The battery was dead from the winter and I tried to get it started this morning. Hooked it up to an Acura, got full interior lights back, let it juice up for about 15 minutes then tried to start it. click, click, click but no turning over of the engine. Called AAA to have them come jump it and the guy with his tow truck couldn't even get a charge in to make the lights come on. Now my mechanic (though he wants to see if a new battery will work first) thinks the wiring harness may have gotten fried in the process. aaaaaggggghuuuuuuu!!! i should have just had it flatbedded to the mechanic and had them drop in a new battery in the first place! a little ticked right now, thanks for listening...
