Not a chance I would run such a light weight.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I won't put it in my car, especially in the summer. Is this right of a dealer to put this weight oil in our cars

POST 2Original post

Porsche comes out with an approved oil list about once a year. 4 Years ago 5w-30 and 10W-30 were approved by now they are off the list. Do not know if 0W-30 was ever on a list. The list from May 2003 has: 0W-40 and 5W-40 and 5W-50.

POST 3Original post

SYMA, noisy lifters too? I have the same problem, ever take it to the dealer to have it checked? Or just keep driving until something happens.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, every now and then they rap until engine warms up. They don't rap everytime the engine is cold or sits for a bit, just raps whenever they feel like it. I will mention it to dealer next week during oil change, but I have understood from several folks here that it is normal and not to worry.

POST 5Original post

That is a bit thin if you ask me. I would think 0w-40 is enough, out here in sunny California, I change to 15w-50. Why don't you do your oil change yourself SYMA. Or wait until I'm out there...and I'll do it for you.

POST 6Original post

The 0w30 is a lower quality oil IMO. It doens't meet some of the specs laid out in the owner's manual such as ECEA. Mercedes has it on its "disallow" list, as another data point. IMO I'd drain it and put 0w40 in there.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I never put it in stiles_s. Not a chance I would run such a light weight. Hello RobynC, Hell I can't even wash my car given my current living arrangements and you expect me to change my own oil....some people
