Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '03 996 C2 has a very heavy clutch. Is this normal? My dealer gave me a Boxter for a loaner a while back and its clutch was feather light. Is the 996 clutch significantly heavier? How heavy is your clutch?

POST 2Original post

My car has a very light clutch. Has your clutch effort changed during ownership?

POST 4Original post

My 01 C4's clutch is really heavy... I didn't realize how heavy until I drove my 04 C4s... what a huge difference. I've never driven a turbo but I'm told that the c4s clutch is the same as the turbos, which is significantly lighter.

POST 5Original post

I just got my clutch and bearing replaced during a RMS job... much much lighter now!

POST 6Original post

Yeah the heavy clutch is due to the hydrolic assist not working too great as the clutch disc is warn I am told, but I drove my friends c4s and his clutch was just like the boxters ala honda civicy. It was pretty nice I have to say.

POST 7Original post

My '99 is a bit heavy as well, but I wouldn't say unbearably so. It's definitely heavier than my brother's '00 Boxster. I haven't driven the late-model 996, so not sure how they compare against mine. Is the clutch that much lighter now?

POST 8Original post

They are always heavy - just before they give out!

POST 9Original post

mine is pretty heavy on my '01 C4. i've heard that the turbo and boxster clutches are lighter. having driven a 993 though, my 996 clutch is way lighter, as hard as it is. the 993 clutches are much more like a race car. you're left calf will be twice the size of your right after driving one for a few thousand miles!
